    Happy New Year all,

We had an interesting night - all nice and snuggly, midnight struck, little kiss and off to bed.

1am - little knock on the door and DD is standing there in tears, freezing cold having walked 3 miles home in a strappy outfit no coat..... Didn,t think to phone us durhhhhhh. Had words with her best friend and had stropped off ( a little worse for wear).

All sorted - back to bed.

10 mins later home phone went - back out of bed - was DS2 - VERY worse for wear - so a la Thunderbirds we all (including DD armed with a just in case bowl for him ) got into car to go and fetch him.

So glad I,m no longer a teen ;)

Thank god we wern,t in the mood to be drinking.

Hey ho - all teens accounted for - live and learn - I finally went to sleep about 4am

Roast Lamb for dinner - MIL coming round - just hope teens are re-humanised by then :)
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Good Morning everyone, and a very Happy New Year to everyone on here.I do hope that 2015 is good for you all, and your dreams and aspirations become more of a reality for everyone.

Health ,wealth and happiness sometimes do not gel together, but most of all I wish everyone good health as its something money can't buy.

I have had a very nice Christmas followed by a great New Year I went out to dinner at my eldest DDs in-laws in London and we really had a lovely dinner and I had some smashing pate that her brother-in -law made, and even had some to bring home with me.
He had made a large dish of it and he said it costed out around a pound !!!. Chicken liver, some garlic, diced shallots and some single cream it was gorgeous and I shall have some more at lunchtime.I shall be looking into making it myself later on this month.

We watched the fireworks which looked as always amazing( nice to see while sitting in the warm with a glass of something nice and the after 8's :):) I don't think I would like to be standing around for hours in the cold, but fair play to those who braved it.

So today is the first day of the New Year and hopefully a new start for some folk. I enjoy it as I am a great list maker, and my to-do list is pretty long at the moment ,so my resolutions for this year is to try and reduce it somewhat. I am also keen on the 'Non-buying consumer holiday' thread and combined with the 'make-do and mend one I am hoping to cut back on overheads and get a nice solid low-spending plan into operation :):):)

I want to work my way through the apparent food mountain that has accumulated in my kitchen cupboards as well.So January is going to be a thrifty month if I can. I have no major things to buy (fingers crossed ) and this years holiday and ferry tickets are all booked and paid for already. Only 30 weeks this saturday until we go to the IoW :)

I would like to try to grow a bit of edible food this year,I may try some container gardening as I don't bend very well in the middle :):)but I do have a smashing chap who comes once a fortnight to do my garden so I think a bit of a conflab with him is on the cards.

I have my pre-op appointment on the 15th of this month so I am hoping for the last op. for my breast reconstruction will be shortly afterwards. Then its onwards and upwards and maybe a treat in March of getting some nice underwear as I will once more have a pair of boobs :):):)

My brother rang last night from France :) and I can't believe how many messages I had on my phone when the mobiles were up and running again after the New Years Eve melt-down. I am so lucky to know so many lovely people who thought of me .I am indeed blessed with some nice friends.

Well today I am helping youngest DD to re-paper a wall in her dining room which we stripped off earlier this week.So I'd better get a wriggle on
once again my best wishes to you all for 2015
    love 'n'stuff

Good morning and Happy New Year! We had a nice evening, just the three of us as DS16 was at his girlfriend's. Taste of things to come I think. Really enjoyed the Queen concert, looking forward to seeing them at the O2 later in the month.

Have cleared up, washed up, dishwasher and washing machine on. Taken some salmon out for tonight and some turkey for a curry tomorrow.

We are going to the sales tomorrow so making a list, DS13 has grown about a foot this year so his trousers are all too short, his slippers have a hole and he needs new rugby boots. DH doesn't go clothes shopping very often so he will just see what takes his eye. I would like some slippers, black trousers and maybe a new frying pan. DS16 got lots of clothes for Christmas so he will probably stay at home and do his homework.

DH fixed my cooker hood, just a dry joint in the switch that needed soldering, so no money spent there!

moredaisy we've had an extraordinary amount of bulbs pop over last few days, strange:cool:

Xmas decs are down and waiting for DH to put away in the loft . I still need to Hoover which I shall do in a minute

I've been to the local recycling centre and taken all the Xmas paper and bottles. First day it's been clear of snow since Boxing Day. The bin men should have come on Tuesday but didn't because of the snow so the black bin is full I hope they come tomorrow .

I have decided to declutter some of DHs stuff this year whether he likes it or not :D he is such a hoarder and takes up a lot of valuable cupboard space and has now started ramming stuff on top of the wardrobes , which is very unsightly it has to go

Right time for a cuppa and Xmas cake xx
  • Afternoon all and a happy new year all.

We stayed up and watched the fireworks on the tv.

His year I must get organised, I am not very organised. I need to start by deleting candy crush from my iPad!

I will menu plan. And will plan my housework daily. My house isn't too mad but stuff seems to build up!

Need to do a food inventory. I've got loads of meat. We have lots of Christmas snacks. I'm dreadful for buying Christmas sweets/snacks due to childhood issues. I need to get over that as we haven't made much of a dent in it.

I'm going to have my lunch, wrap up dh birthday presents and do a food inventory.

    Love, hugs and spoons

  • Happy new year everyone. We took stepson home today and popped into Mr T's on the way. Found some absolute bargains on Christmas selection boxes, reduced to £1.50 each and on BOGOF!!! Stocked up for kid's good behaviour rewards! I also got 10p off per ltr on my clubcard so managed to fill the tank on my Scenic for just over £40!!! Two years ago it would have cost about £70 if my memory serves me right! I'm definitely on a money saving high!

We took down the tree and put it in the attic. While up the Ofound the kid's old baby toys. They're currently running through the machine to give to my brother who is having twins in the next few weeks!

On a sad note I finally managed to speak to my neighbour's son. His dad was taken into hospital a few days ago and unfortunately they aren't anticipating him coming home. He has suffered with cancer and it has taken a turn for the worse. I have told the son that if his mum needs any shopping etc to let me know as I don't think she drives, nor does it sound like she's in any state to take on the outside world at the moment. It's a pain I'm back in work next week or I could've helped out around the house too.

Xmas decs are away - I don't like putting them up but I do like taking them down. Been having a think about resolutions and this year im going to try and eat less red meat and mik choc. Lidl do an OK 70% dark choc and because its so rich I can only eat a couple of chunks at a time.
Very best wishes to you all for 2015

Afternoon all and wishing you a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year,

welcoming Daisychain 1 to the fold. Will be lovely to hear more about you through your posts.

Back home from Devon yesterday. Had our Grandson overnight whilst his Mummy and Daddy went out partying. Part of me thinks it should be the other way round but there you go. He got me up at 3am and faffed around in his cot before finally falling asleep around 4. I was shattered this morning.

The house was in one piece when I got home even though 'Youngest' had people stay over. Apparently Matthew had too much to drink and was sick (down the toilet thankfully) and Jacob had to bring his wheelchair as his artificial leg needed charging. Still, it added an extra seat in the living room and he managed to get from room to room ok.

Ive not eaten that much more over Christmas but ive eaten junk and I cant wait to get back into a decent routine where food is concerned. Even now we have lots of junk/nibbles/cakes left over but we are all stuffed and bloated. I must get rid of the weight I put on over Christmas at least!

Bin men come tomorrow, I need to get round to collecting all the rubbish. Unfortunately hubby is going to have to take a great deal of it to the tip as there is too much for the wheelie bin.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

    Afternoon all

    Happy New Year.

Lovely day over here but a cold wind. Went for a walk this morning and stopped for a lovely bowl of red lentil and chorizo soup. Just cooked a stir fry before DD heads off to the airport for her journey home. I am staying till Saturday.

Given DSs room a good clean, even washed the Windows inside and out. He has a balcony off his room so the Windows are easy to clean. Also did a.big pile of ironing so he has clean clothes when he gets back.

Went for a wander to the fireworks last night which were good but the fireworks on the street here are a pain. Much quieter today but can still hear them.
  • :hello: I hope you don't mind, I thought I would come out of lurkdom and wish everyone a Happy New Year.

I do enjoy reading this thread and the forums and try to be as mse and o/s as possible. Not sure I will be able to post much as by the time I sit down for a catch up its usually late evening! RL just takes up far too much time:rotfl:

Last night DH and I watched the Queen concert and the fireworks on TV. DD16 who has not been well gave in and went to bed at 11.30pm.

DS20 who works for a well known pub chain was working last night. He is hopeless with money so we gave him some money to get a taxi home, as DH said he wouldn't be picking him up. Needless to say he went out with friends and didn't get home until 12 noon today! Saying it was more cost effective to get the train home today! I was not pleased and have told him he needs to pay me back the money I gave him as it wasn't for drink but travel. He really needs to sort himself out

Well I hope this year is a great year for everybody and we all achieve our goals and dreams.

Having a very quiet lazy day today ready to get back to normality tomorrow and work next week.

    Bye for now
