I'd wondered that as well. I do a lot of knitting and wondered if I was missing out on not using koolaid in some way.

Half term started about 30 mins ago for me so I'm hoping to get some major decluttering done next week.

Finished a crazy week at work, I could happily take to my bed now, but off now for a week, yippee :-).
I have however got a long list of jobs I want to get through, including flinging a bit more stuff and giving everywhere a good dust, hoover, etc. as I do so. Have made a start and ejected DS and DD with their overnight bags to their Dad's. Going to get started straight away, think I'll start upstairs in my room (now I have no room mate as both DD and DS are safely returned to their redecorated and decluttered rooms) and see how I get on. It's become a bit of a dumping ground while we've been playing musical rooms. Just going to make myself a cuppa, then gather my cleaning stuff and some carrier bags for stuff that is out, out, out and get moving. I know I'll feel better when it's gone/done :-).
Ruthless is my middle name this evening!

Needed a new perch for birdcage. Found a small branch, popped it in the oven for a while to kill any bugs (ugh) and got OH to saw grooves in each end to fit the cage. Birds love it and it's better for their feet than smooth wood plus it's free - bonus!
    Looking ahead

CookieMonsta, I'm really curious about this :)
what do knitters use kool-aid for - is it to keep them going on a marathon knit, or do they use it to dye the wool or something?

    Good morning Ilovemygarden and mrs-moneypenny,

Yes! Knitters use kool aid to dye wool :) it can be done in the microwave and is one of the cheapest and safest ways to dye yarn at home.

There is a brilliant article about it here

    Hope you find it interesting!

  • Many thanks CookieMonsta, that was very enlightening. Would never have thought that people could dye wool in their microwave :)

  • Afternoon All.
I've not done too bad at all with my flinging stuff so far this weekend. I tackled the pile of miscellaneous clutter left over from clearance of DS's room before it was decorated. Only a small plastic container of bits and pieces has returned to his room, will easily fit in his wardrobe. A couple of carrier bags of rubbish out. I have a surplus wicker basket that can go to charity shop, it's filled with a bag of bits and bobs, small toys and puzzles, ornaments, not needed stationery, bit of children's bed linen I was still hanging on to, but really won't use, some jeans DD has grown out of (only purchased a few months ago!). All going out of the house as soon as I can take it.
I decluttered my room of dust and the laundry basket of two loads of washing, plus contents of two PE bags washed and out on the line. Just having a cuppa, then going to fetch it all in and get it all put away so it's not cluttering up the house. I shake out my washing as soon as the machine finishes and then"fold and smooth" it when dry, the iron comes out only when really necessary :-). No-one noticed when I implemented this, not even my Mum, who irons everything. Wish I'd done it years ago.
    Right, best get on.

    Thanks for that info cookiemonsta
    Hope all are well
2 bin bags if mils clothes dropped off at CS this afternoon - after helping her with her wardrobes a couple of weeks ago she didn't want the stuff we'd taken out at hers (she hadn't got room apparently) so it all got brought to mine ( cos I love having my rooms full of others peoples cast offs) it has now all gone. I've just got to persuade the girls that there stuff needs clearing or taking away. Then I can hopefully see the wood for the trees and have more chance of decluttering what's left.
