I've provisionally sold a desk on a FB selling page, so will see if they actually collect it before I count it! However also from the selling pages, I have bought a CD/DVD tower which I collected today and collecting a computer chair tomorrow! Also Dad will be bringing me a tall bookcase, and one of the smaller bookcases can go to my sister. He also has a fire surround I can have, but it needs to be painted first. I've pretty much finished shopping for furniture now (she says!), will just be getting pictures and a mirror for the living room as the walls are bare.

Will drop off the charity bag this week, and start the arduous task of listing on Ebay. I thought I had sold most of a collection I had of TV and film collectables a couple of years back, but have found another big box full of stuff to list!

wow lots of great decluttering going on. on the face of it i've not done much this week, in reality dd2 (who moved back home yesterday :T) has been helping me move things round the house. i have 2 day beds ordered from ikea which will arrive 2nd march. very exciting. so we (well i admit it mainly she while i was busy doing other stuff) have been sorting books. we are only 2/5 of the overall residents of the house so we need to get all 5 of us in the house for a whole day of decluttering. so we're filling boxes of books / dvds / computer games / games / jigsaws / cables that neither of us want / know what they're for. we'll then bring a box down to the kitchen table one at a time to put away, give away, recycle, bin.

WOW !! loads of decluttering going on around the country today :T


Well, my DH must have been feeling a bit guilty as today he's decluttered all his drawers and wardrobes in our bedroom. He's put out 36 items altogether, mostly for the cs but a few were binned :j


I made a start on the shelves in the guest room and took down everything on the top three shelves. The books have all been sorted and I need to go online to see which I can sell. Three folders have been emptied of old college work, personal info removed and the rest into the rc.


I have put all the plastic, paper and can rc in the car for DH to drop off on his way home from work. The bags for the cs will have to wait until the weekend due to working hours.


I hope to get some more files etc done tomorrow as I've done enough for today.

I am feeling alot better about everything tonight :j.

Well,I said I was going to get rid of 100+ pieces of rubbish today.Now,pieces of real straight-to-the-rubbish-bin rubbish would have exceeded that:bits of plastic pieces of toys (tiny odd doll's shoes and other tiny bits of tat,lost hairbands,pieces of paper scribbled on then abandoned,odd marking pens whether working or not,etc).

On top of that I sorted out the mass of toys/books/other bits that were emptied out of the third bedroom into the other 2 rooms the other day,which had resulted in one empty,half-painted room,and 2 bedrooms with absolutely no floor-space,even for the mattress DS has been sleeping on.I placed everything either in its assigned storage space,or in boxes,which are very neatly towering in eldest daughter's room.I also tidied up and vacuumed the whole house,including the carpet in the newly painted room,despite the fact the carpet will be torn out,hopefully this week!!Into that room I have put all the big pieces of furniture we kept bashing feet and knees into upstairs:unassembled bed-frames,book-case shelves,etc.

Today I have either moved,set aside for donation, or chucked out 730 items :eek:!!!!!Not adding it to my tally here,but just an indication of how much chaos I have been up against just in 3 bedrooms.

What I will add to my list (because I think I owe myself at least a "1" to my tally),is a huge bag of rubbish (binned) that has been collected over about the last two weeks:all the afore-mentioned tat coming out of rooms,so that brings my tally to 735.

Wow everyone seems so busy
Saver upper, I thought my DH was an only child but it seems you are married to his identical twin!! We have the same clutter issues DVDs, war hammer etc.

I had to go into the attic for something yesterday morning -couldn't find it but bought down a box of stuff and a carrier bag full of old paperwork. All paperwork gone through boned and some shredded. Box of clutter gone though and most thrown away, some for Cs box and a small amount put to one side for DD2 to look at and see if she wants to reclaim any or if that can go to the CS
Found a load of those bath pearl things in a drawer, not sure how old but they have now all gone in the bin. Some half used bottles of bubble bath and sachets of creams etc in the bathroom to be used. Gloopy bottle of nail polish binned. A book returned to its owner
Been knitting using wool from the stash and when finished the items will be given away - need to raid the button stash later to finish the cardis off

I decided to dye my bedding today.

271. Dye pack into bin.

272. Rubber glove binned.

273. I threw away an old stained tea towel.

274. Recycling out. I'm going to look at the Mail Preference Service later to see if I can stop the junk mail.

275. I threw away the last bit of a seasoning mix and recycled the bottle.

DH accidentally broke a small vase while washing it at the weekend so that going down the bottle bank later, also have a load of dead batteries to take into recycling bin at local shop next time I go

I'd like to join up, I have a storage until that's been languishing for the past few years that needs to be emptied this year for good. Then I can start saving up the montly rental charge!:j
