PCN Northwest Parking Enforcement Carlisle DFS

  • Just an update, I went back to the manager at Carlisle who again was unhelpful and escalated it to the head office but received a call saying it was privately owned and they have no say in anything. I then said that even if a £3000 sale would be lost if they could not cancel the ticket and she said no! So will wait and see what the post man bring.

Thanks everyone for all the help so far!

So ask them who owns it as it isn't the PPC themselves, it will be a landowner with a managing agent in charge. Escalate the complaint there.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Great news everyone! After getting no where with DFS I wrote the following email to London Metric:

    Without prejudice

    Dear Sirs

DFS Store, Carlisle - PCN C****

I write re the above PCN which I received while visiting the Carlisle store the day before Christmas Eve.

I did contact the manager of the store, and DFS head office but they both informed me that they have no authority over the PCN company - Northwest Parking Enforcement Limited. They went as far as saying that even if means they loose out on a sale of £3000 the PCN would still stand. They state that the car park is owned by yourself therefore I am assuming that as DFS have no authority over the PCN company then they
    must be employed by yourselves.
However Northwest Parking Enforcement Limited list DFS as their clients on their website so either DFS or NPE Ltd are stating incorrect information.

I am writing in the hope that you will be able to cancel this unfair PCN. I did park in the car park and I did visit the DFS store. I however did overstay the 2 hours but in all honesty I did not see any signs when I parked. These were only noticed on returning to the car and seeing the PCN on the windscreen. It was a dreadfully wet and windy day and I feel the signs are at a size and height that do not automatically draw your eyes to them.

Cars bring customers to businesses and without customers companies are dead in the water, some businesses fall for the PPC sales talk when these PCN’s discourage customers. I had visited the store with my mother who is shortly exchanging on a property and will require some new furniture, she did not intend to buy at this visit and was waiting for the January sales, however we will not return to the store while this is hanging over us.

I look forward to hearing from you.

and low and behold a few days later I received the following reply from the manager at DFS:

Hello, it has been agreed to cancel down this parking ticket PCN C**** as a gesture of goodwill. I have spoken with Northwest parking and they are aware of this request. If you have any other queries, please contact myself on 01228 ******. Kind regards L**** M****

Thanks everyone for all the help!
