Am I the only one not to have 'got on' with the Marie Kondo approach? Someone gave me the book for Christmas (at my request, not because they thought I live in chaotic clutter......although I do sometimes:o).
Read it avidly and tried various things but put it on Amazon and sold it same afternoon:j.0 -

I am sure that you are not the only one. It probably means that you are not yet ready to declutter/minimise and that you get joy from your situationYour biggest asset is TIME! I'm focused on multi-generational financial freedom.0 -

You couldn't be further off the mark, Listerbelle:shocked:
I do declutter constantly, recycling is as natural to me as washing my hands after using the toilet! We have an excellent recycling system in our locality and we have several storage bins outside and out of sight on our property where anything we recycle is placed pretty much as soon as the item is emptied/used etc. I'm not drowning in that sort of clutter. What I do have though is lots of 'stuff', most of which is saleable and being stored in the house (mostly in rooms we don't use much but I have to admit to having almost blocked the hallway when I had to unload my car in a hurry after my last table-top sale at the weekend:o) for when the Car Boot season starts. Have lots of books but they are not for just 'outing' as per Marie Kondo as they are mostly listed for sale on Amazon.
You are not right in thinking I get joy from my situation. I certainly don't! I'd like to be minimalist but until this lot is sold I won't be. I'd love to just box/bag things up and take them to the charity shops but financial problems mean I need the revenue. I do donate things to charity when I can but my main aim is financial survival.
What I didn't like about Marie Kondo's approach was her rather naïve way of writing and all the 'bringing joy' bunkum. Her storage systems only work if people have almost nothing to store. OK for some, but for many of us the joy concept for keeping/not keeping things is a luxury we can ill afford.0 -
hope the decluttering is making you all money while you are it!
my friend came round for the first time in months last night, and she sat near my dining table telling me, "wow you have been busy decluttering Mrs!!" because the table was clear, the room looked less busy and cleaner....

Ok, a bit late, as nearing the end of the month, but a challenge for you all. Some of you have done this with me previously and some were successful in finding lost money...

Aesop - thanks for that link I will give it a try :-)
In addition to this challenge I have been keeping to a fairly tight daily budget - I worked out today that since 1st January I've "saved" over £100 and had 4 no spend days. I'm not adding the £100 to my total as I only count money in, but I'm pleased with myself for reigning in my spending.Shifting my energy for 20200
