Hello!! Nice to be back :)
Well....popped into co-op today at 6.30 and low and behold came out with a basket and arms full of stuff! All reduced!
6 loaves of crusty bread 2 @£1.29 reduced to 29p each, 4 @ £1.09 reduced to 29p each, two french sticks reduced from 89p to 19p each, 4 packs of cheese and onion puffs, 4 in each for 49p each, one pack of apple puffs for afters, same price. Reduced pasta for DD, a yummy scone down from 45p to 11p, wow! LOVE IT :) Everything in the freezer except for 1 pack of cheese and onion puffs and two apple puffs, DD's pasta and scone. Result :)
Watered the garden tonight, runner beans look miserable, not sure whats wrong with them this year they are growing but look grumpy. Tomatos a bit strangled in pots but thriving, my one and only cucumber looking like it needs pampering, honestly what a prima donna of a plant, and the rest of the veg patch looking good, cauli, broccoli, parlsey, two types of lettuce, raspberrys, blackberries, blackcurrants, gooseberrys, goji berries, and masses of strawberries. Had some this morning over my weetabix as I read that bananas dont have as much nutiritonal value but have more calories.
Despite being hurried and rushing i stuck to my diet and had my beans on toast and didnt cheat, tomorrows tea is chicken, bake pots and lettuce from the garden.
I have a bit of a dilemma, i do want chickens and ducks but dont want to clean them out particulary :/ Enough with the 5 stables tbh. Plus i dont want a fox to get them and i hate it when my animals die so just more heartache for me...but...... I do want fresh eggs and love to see them roaming, decisons decisions.
Had a really big chat today about work with the "boss" and luckily they have agreed that things need to change. Im going to stay off til mid august hopefully i will have spoilt myself by then, holiday abroad with DH just self catering and cheap and then get back to it with a new set of rules and ideas for coping. Retirement plans needs to be addressed :)
Good few years yet around 20 officially but would be nice to cut that down drastically and have no debt or mortgage, little steps i think :)
Ha ha little Chihuahua is so tired tonight he has gone upstairs and taken himself to bed.

  • Just popping back in, will try to come over more often :)
Late July I decided that I didn't want to do the contracts anymore and although I was promised time off till August to recover, that didn't happen and I kept on being pestered constantly, so no break at all. Unfortunately that pushed me over the edge and out of the blue one lunch time I emailed resignation, two minutes later they were on the phone attempting to "understand", proved a point to me and I stopped.
Money's really tight, mum is helping us manage as she wanted us to give up and it meant more to her that we did.
Obviously still have the luxuries of my horses, although competitions have slowed considerably, DD is on board with that. Horses all well and healthy other than cushiness pony who is on tablets but ok. Have had my other oldie tested again this week as I'm sure he is not ok, waiting for results.
Veg this year was rubbish, runner beans only grew last few weeks and out of loads of plants I had about 5 meals for us, last year I had 10 plants and ate them all year and froze loads. The tomatoes were good in the end, but the slugs ate at least half of them, cucumber plant died as expected. Parsley is looking good, and the fruit seems to have taken hold, maybe next year we will have some more, hopefully enough for jam. Haven't even bothered to think about blackberries this year
Anyway DH and I are off on holiday next week to Greece for a week self catering, have bought limited clothes and will take just enough euros for food and maybe on trip, just need a rest and has been booked for weeks.
DS is away on holiday at the moment and it is showing just how much work he does in the garage business, missing him like crazy !
DD gave up her yard job and now has an indoor clean job and has beautiful nails and has just returned from holiday with her partner, they had a fabulous time :)
My diet is doing great, I am 10 stone 4 this morning, have been to the gym tonight in an attempt to get under 10 stone by the time we go on holiday.
Finances wise, I've still got the mortgage and as of the end of this month only one credit card which is now about £6000 so pleased there. I'm following all the recipes on here to cut down my food spend as much as possible, in fact I'm trying to cut down all spending except essentials.
Tonight me and DH had baked potatoes cut into wedges and cooked till softening then seasoned and put in the halogen oven, I had beans and a pei e of brown bread and butter with mine and DH had some sausages and salad so quite cheap.
DH's birthday tomorrow, he is 46. DD is paying for a meal for him in the toby carvery so as long as everyone else pays for themselves, which they say they will, my bill should be £5.99 for me.
I've started my own business making car seat covers and re trimming car interior parts, it's going quite well, but I have no confidence so I panic when a job comes in. Today I have decided not to trim to order, I'm going to do what I fancy at home and then sell them on eBay, that way I have no stress or time limit and if it goes wrong, so what, I just do it again.
I've spent today running the office for the garage and trying to get up to date with the accounts, it's taking ages, but I am going to attempt to finish off all loose ends so my mind is much more clutter free.
    Feels good to be back,

Well all week all I've managed to do accounts wise is print off sales invoices for June ( I know JUNE ) and the rest of the time I've managed limited housework and have answered query after query formDH and DS business. Anyway DS is home tomorrow and I can't wait :). I have missed him so much.
Went to the gym tonight after eating a turkey dinner in tobyncarvery and chocolate fudge cake with custard, oh dear :(. Today I've cheated a little, bit and had a few Jaffa cakes, but I feel icy cold and have a bad tummy so need a bit of spoiling.
Horses all ok today, still going out all day and in at night, DD is riding the bigger one who is going very nicely at the moment, both are enjoying the sessions which is nice. the younger one is very dominant and needs work as well but after time off while DD away she is much less settled than the bigger one.
DH asked me tonight "what's for tea?" I said I don't know. He said, look in your meal planner, I replied well in there it says lasagne, garlic bread and apple crumble but we ain't having it, my meal planner is made when I'm in housewife mode but we are more likely to have egg on toast lol :). He had pie and chips and I had cheese and tomato sandwiches :)
Anyway tomorrow night is chicken and bacon pasta in a creamy sauce with cheese melted on top, DS favourite meal at the moment.
Ordered euros today they are coming tomorrow, also airport parking and travel insurance, so expensive day. We will be reasonably frugal while we are away and hope to bring back a decent amount. DH and I don't eat huge amounts on our own so bread rolls for breakfast is fine with a coffee, in fact after my diet, flipping lush! :)
Weather not too bad here today, dried one line of washing and the other load is hanging in the airing cupboard drying.
Quick trip to aldi tomorrow, pasta sauce, eggs and maybe some cheap cornflakes to make chocolate cornflake cakes and 4 pints of milk, also need bread but am going to make that, yummy :) mushrooms and onions are in the super size so will get some of the for the freezer.
Off now so night night x

    Evening,
DS is home yay! Missed him loads :)
Went to Audi and other than bacon to go in the pasta tonight and crumpets which are DS favourite, I stuck to the list and spent £7.16 :)
Results came back today for the cushings test and my pony who already has it needs to have his dose doubled, and my other horse I had tested has it now as well and needs one tablet. So where as I was giving one tablet a night I now have to give three, way more expensive, but at least I know what is wrong :)
Went to the gym tonight and joined the spinning class, nearly fell over when I got off the bike, legs like jelly lol! :)
Made rice crispy cakes for DS today and shared the bacon between the pasta and cheese and bacon toasties for dinner, feel great to be frugal, back in control :)

  • Lovely to see your posts again - I have truly missed them.

Glad you know what's up with horses - my little one has lami and vet's put him on 2 week's box rest. It's not bad and we're being over cautious. I should have asked to take blood to test for cushings whilst he was there. How did you know? I always hear thick curly coat and lami type symptoms?

Also lovely to see how happy your kids make you xx

  • Hey! The first pony lost weight drastically, had severe diarrhoea, was absolutely ravenous and his top line was non existent, first he tested negative but then I had him tested again in the October and he was 208 the cut off point in the autumn is 47! So really high. I recognised that he needed his dose altered this summer because he has been getting diarrhoea again and has been "footy" on and off, sure enough his bloods were 163 this week, his coat also began to look at though he hadn't moulted properly, he grew an early winter coat in patches. The other one I thought wasn't quite right two years ago, I had him tested but negative only 38 but I wasn't convinced. This year he is measuring 108, he is lethargic, seems to be daydreaming a lot, the others run around and he just watches ( he is usually the worse), he lost his coat this year but was still relatively woolly and well up to weight though and no diarrhoea. Does drink an awful lot though and pee a lot. this is the time of year to test don't rely on a test done any other time of year, some horses don't show many symptoms both of ours are completely different, they are both 23 although apparently they can get it as early as 11 x

  • Oh and with the first pony we couldn't get rid of laminitis regardless of management, it just stayed, 3 days in the tablets and he was as sound as a pound! I also only feed hi fi lite when they has laminitus, I find that if it management related it brings them sound after a few days, they hate it but I give a tub trug in the morning and one in the evening and then start to replace with a little hay. :)

So today, to do the lottery or not??
I bought 12 eggs from Aldi, free range and tonight I went to make pancakes with some and the first one had a double yolk, I didn't know what it was so I threw it down the sink, cross! Next one....had a double yolk! Threw that down the sink as well, really cross. Decided to look it up on the Internet and found that they are about 1 in a 1000, realising I'd wasted them I felt an idiot. Anyway next egg, double yolk, in all 5 of them, so lucky or what??
Only DD and DH for tea, I had egg on toast and they had southern fried chicken and chips.
Made two loaves of bread, one brown and one a bit of both lol :)
Because I wanted egg on toast it meant heating the Rayburn hot plate, I didn't want to waste the oil but I haven't got an electric or gas hob, so I decided not to make steam pudding for afters and made pancakes on the hob, once it's hot about 10/15 mins it stays hot for hours.
I don't think it will be long before the Rayburn is on tick over permanently, it has been off for months so quite a but of oil saved.
My second cushings pony came in tonight after only one tablet, trotting in hand, much more like himself, I so do hope he will be back to usual soon he is so much fun :) x
Went to the gym, found my muscles were a little tired and only managed around half an hour, but I did walk/run 2km and went on the cross trainer for 1km and burnt 100 calories, on the bright side when I weighed this morning I was 10stone 2 so really really chuffed :)

Day off from gym today. Glad really as have aching muscles.
Bought frontline for my two pooches today set us by £25, and a bed for the bigger one, DH has woke up every morning for the last few weeks with a stuffy cold feeling and says its allergies, we'll both our pooches sleep in the bedroom with us, chihuahua in the bed lol and the bigger one on a quilt on the floor, so even though they have done that for years and it's only recent that he's started feeling snuffly I've hoovered thoroughly everything and bought a new bed for the bigger one, £18 pets at home and it's lovely, so hopefully she will like it and it fits in the washing machine easily :)
Began a to pack properly today, have a small pile of ironing ready to pack and one or two items to try on, I think they will be a bit big :/
The second pony to have cushings came trotting in tonight all the way up to me and had a cwtch, keeping fingers crossed that he feels better.
Went to Aldi, stuck completely to the list, eggs, milk x 2, bacon, fruit and fibre, weetabix, baked pots and potatoes and frozen chips which are DS favourite, DH bought 6 corner yogurts, quick tea of salad, chicken and bake pots.
DH sister visiting tomorrow with her family so after doing the horses in the morning we need to blitz the house lol! Make a cake! And generally look like we live a chilled out life lol lol lol! They will want to go shopping to their favourite shop which is only down by us and a walk along the beach as well. Still 10.2 this morning but I did see the scales flash 10.1 for a second .
Anyway back to my cuppa and a browse on my iPad, I've just finished my latest Hamish Macbeth book, night x
