I sat down today and wrote a spreadsheet to cover all income and expenses. I now have a detailed list of various categories, their intended budget and overall running bank balance. I could see immediately how much I have spent for instance..on horses

. Ummmmmm. Change of subject I think..
Seriously though it's great, I've only ever done a running bank balance before in an attempt not to go overdrawn. I had my first feb wages through today more than I though so chuffed with that, might clear £1000 by end of feb if I'm lucky.
Horses all ok, munching away all day. Still on the yard and will be till end of March/April. DH has been harrowing and rolling the fields this week, the ground is just right
, just need fertilizing now in the spring and hopefully will last all year. I love to see them freshly rolled without a hoof print.
I gave in tonight and after a particularly stressful evening, ran to the chippie for tea
. At least I didn't have to do dishes.
Rang the Rayburn man today and asked him to come out and fix the hob/oven, it's no more expensive to run the oven permanently and benefit from its slow cooking and kettle boiling, clothes drying, house warming...etc...etc.. (I love it) than it is to put the heating in all day, albeit low.
Will find out tomorrow if the consistent contract I have will become more permanent or cease, I'm thinking I would like it to continue because its not to stressful but still paying well.
Called in Aldi today and cost £58 or so, we go through bread and milk like nobody's business. Aldi aren't selling bread flour down here anymore, so until I can justify a tesco order no homemade bread
Off out tomorrow into town and I'm hoping that I may just get squeezed in for an eye test, I'm holding papers further and further away from me these days trying to find a focus point but if not well I'll go next week I hope.
Have a lovely evening x£250 shopping, diesel and any other spends

Well done on sorting the spread sheets - hope it helps. £1000 paid off in Feb is amazing - well done!!! I use YNAB and its great bit I'm not great with spread sheets! Raeburn sounds great I would love one (and the farm house to go with it!!) and hope work materialises. Horses must be expensive (always wanted on from a kid bit never got there!!! one day maybe!)
Hope you manage to get your eye test done!0 -
Spreadsheets are the way forward! When I am DF I will continue to have them and savings will replace debts hopefully

I too would get the Rayburn fixed, I'd have one over standard heating any day. In fact, one day!
Ditto the no bread flour in Aldi problem. My Mam is getting mine when she goes to Tesco otherwise we wouldn't have any. Woke to a lovely fresh loaf this morning

Not bad weather here today considering it rained all day yesterday.
Called in farm shop and bought shavings and a bag of horse feed.
DS took his GF out for a posh meal tonight....oh where have those days gone lol
.
DD made her "unofficial boyfriend" some valentine cupcakes, we did all pinch some, yummy he he
I had a banging headache this morning so lay on settee and reiki'd myself, promptly fell asleep and when I woke up felt better, four pieces of jam on toast and a milky coffee and I was fine, when I got up DD had swept through, cleaned kitchen, done dishes (no dishwasher) and put on a load of washing, it was lovely to relax again then knowing it was all done
Sat down tonight and watched Jack Ryan: the Russian shadow recruit - at least I think that was what it was called lol! Anyway it was good
Tomorrow will consist of mucking out, definitely got to be my job tomorrow as DH and my mum have done most of it all week, I'm not slacking off, I'm working at that time.....honest!
Hoping I find the time and energy to make a chicken dinner, have all the ingredients, well may run out of spuds so a quick trip to the farm shop will sort that, but otherwise have everything, some housework and will make sure I check bank account and update spreadsheet which is great! Can't think why I didn't do it years ago. The bank balance never reflects the actual balance taking into account what I've spent or what's due to go out, so on the spreadsheet I have a true account column, which makes me feel much more sure of what is really in there
An injectors gone on the car, well has actually been gone for about 2 years, but DH being a mechanic, it doesn't get done, so this week it is a priority and he is going to do it! I really hope so I'm fed up of sitting at traffic lights or in traffic with the car vibrating because it is missing so badly lol! Nightmare!
Anyway work is going ok still, won't know about existing contract till Monday but I'd really like it to be more permanent as it is going great

Thank you for reminding me I have had two reminders through for my eye test - must get it booked.
Good luck for tomorrow re the contract.

Yes very important Scottishmummy! I almost jumped a red light yesterday, unfortunately DH was in the car, so I still haven't heard the end of it, he's blaming my failing eyesight in my age! I'll be blaming his bad eyesight on a black eye if he carrys on lol
I did muck out today, DD helped as well. Managed to make a pork chop dinner and everything was ready prepared and frozen so just needed to defrost it other than the stuffing, was lovely though.
I think I am suffering from being overtired I was driving the porcelain bus as my husband would say during the night and had a headache yesterday, so I'm going to try to get to sleep a bit earlier tonight. Trouble with me is that there is no speed other than flat out or stop, I give it all or nothing.
I need to be up reasonably early tomorrow and need a hair wash before facing the world, clipped up just won't pass tomorrow
so night night x £250 shopping, diesel and any other spends

Well the decision is not made yet! Will have to wait but it went ok, whatever the decision it went well.
So today ...big sigh...hay bale rotten when we opened it, and then another.... I hate complaining! So I had to take a deep breath and ring and say "I don't want anymore
" He took it well, and apologised and arranged to collect the rotten ones, so fair play he was ok. He rung later and asked could we try some from a different stack that we might be happy with, so..........I said ok, ive got no guts, but we are going to open them when he is here and make sure they are ok, otherwise back they go and definitely no more. Anyway in the meantime I rang the old hay man and asked him to deliver the small bales as they are fine, so I have two on the go now, stress with a capital S.
Spreadsheet doing great, as long as I update it it works well
Did burgers in rolls and salad tonight and .......pancakes lol.... happy house of teenagers! 5 in all
The bigger one of our horses is feeling back to normal I would say, I did worry a bit that he had something nasty and catching, but none of the others had symptoms and have been fine, he is now charging out of the stable much more back to his normal self. Lunged him yesterday for the first day as I tend to underwork rather than overwork, and way hay "lets go mum!!!!!" he was lush! He has got so much swag, if he was a bloke....well!
The morning other than the hay issue was quite relaxing, mucked out, and then caught up on my washing, house still relatively tidy and clean so watched part of the British Sewing Bee which was recorded whilst I did my ironing, as usual, within 20 minutes they were asking "is the cafe! open?!" Lol got to love them

Oh dear on hay issue - hope new stuff was better! Horse with swagger sounds gorgeous! I know what you mean about caf! being open - there is always someone mooching for something in my kitchen and I can only see it getting worse over the next few years!
Boo on the no decision on contact!! How frustrating!! But glad spreadsheets are helping with money management!!! Keep plodding!!!0
