I didn't think you were allowed to sell things on Freecycle?
It's a sister site where you can sell or swap.

Why was your husband not happy with the purchase? Is it faulty? Is it not as described?
It's a big tower desk top pc, he prefers a laptop. Plus it has been loaded and running on Linux system, bit hard to understand, takes time to get your head around it he is nearly 70. Plus, I believe Linux is free to download. Which makes me wonder if the pc was such a good bargain as I or anyone can download this type of software.

Just sell it on. While I'm sure you've been polite, if this was a private sale it does sound like you've hassled them a bit. They don't want it back, just sell it on and make the best of it.
No,I was very flexible. I emailed to say I would be telephoning, but never had any replies to my emails.

Unfortunately they don't have to refund you, you went to pick up the item and had the opportunity to inspect it so knew what you were buying so it's not their fault that you don't want it now. Buying a tower pc instead of a laptop isn't a small mistake to make.

I bought a few bits from a similar local selling site just before Xmas, it turned out that the couple were selling a few possessions to raise money for their kids' Xmas presents. It's possible that these people really needed the money you gave them, especially just before Xmas They may not even have the cash now to give back to you and even if they do, legally they don't have to refund you for an item you have decided you don't want anymore. Shops don't even have to refund you but do so as a goodwill gesture.

list it for sale again at the same price , with some luck its worth the same price to someone else

next time be sure its what you want and ask that they show you it working , it wont come with any warrenty so remember that if it breaks youre stuck with it vs a new one comes with warrenty

I purchased a second hand used computer which was advertised for sale on my local "freecycle" swap shop site. Purchased wednesday 17th december.....ery calm. In fact I did ask him not to shout and I said why are you being like this.
    What do I do know??

You made a blunder so just sell it like the man said

You cant just buy stuff "subject to your husbands approval" - you might have an argument if you were 11 years old

You are a grown adult and you need to take your contracts to buy seriously

    .
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

That thought had crossed my mind, and when I was talking to the husband I did offer to wait for the money.
  • I'm not sure it's sinking in with you is it? The fact is you are hassling them and causing them stress, you probably spoilt their Christmas and are harrassing them. If you contact them again you are risking a visit from the police in my opinion.

Im afraid i agree with Purple, you purchased it and now are regretting it, you have no legal right to a refund, fair enough ask once incase they are feeling generous and/or may of had other offers but once they say no its time to move on
  • People assume that all purchases can be reversed, nobody takes any responsibility for their own actions any more.
