thats why i said call them numbers and speak to someone and not just take what auto messages say and tell them that on their own website it says to call this number and thats what you are doing, get them to log the time and you also log the time,then this becomes the time you reported this to o2
I logged into my O2 account and found a link to a community forum where I found the number. I can't believe how well hidden it is. I've made a note myself, hoping that I never need it.

ETA: I guess 0344 would have been the cheaper option to ring but the trick is listening to the recorded message which begins by saying that lines are closed and then goes on to give some options, Lost or Stolen being one.
