Hi,
can you put me down for 12 nsds for January please?
It's a tricky month with many family birthdays but I'll do my best.

Unfortunately my father has terminal cancer and it's looking like he'll pass away in January so I'm not going to count any expenses/spending related to the funeral either.
So very sorry to hear about your dad. Take care of yourself xDebt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁

*** sneaks in after going AWOL for 4 months! ***
Life just got in the way - or at least my brain went out of gear for lots of spreadsheet work while I was having to do exercises on my (was broken, now mended thanks to the insertion of a titanium plate, but still not back to full strength) right wrist several times a day
But I'm back
Finances are getting really poorly now, so I need to spend as little as possible moving forward - and this has led to me deciding I need to go even more hard-core (for me) with the NSDs
Having checked my bank accounts it appears I need 3 days for D/Debits that I can anticipate on set days. I also need another day for paying my landline/broadband bill (could leave it to pay on a D/Debit, but by paying within 24 hours of the bill being produced I save 10%). And another day for the window cleaner each month (will actually be 2 a few months as he'll be round 4-weekly rather than monthly). So that's 5 (sometimes 6) days a month for bills, leaving a minumum of 23 (Feb) and a max of 26 days as potential NSDs (depending on how many days in the month).
Of all my other 'essential' spending, the only ones I can't really pre-plan are grocery shopping days (including toiletries and cleaning to some extent) and petrol (because DS1 also has use of the car, and his monthly mileage varies considerably).
So I've decided that I won't count food and drink spending against an NSD - as long as I'm within my monthly budget, not buying stuff without first checking stockpiles, not buying 'junk' (crisps, cakes, biscuits, cheesecakes, ice cream etc), and not eating out or having a take-away.
Nor will I count petrol spends as long as I'm sharing the car with DS1.
Toiletries and cleaning are both at a point where I think I need to buy very little (if anything) other than toilet rolls in 2015 - so any spend there will lose me an NSD
That just leaves the categories I shouldn't be spending on / can't afford to spend on without having released some money from elsewhere (use of stockpiled goods being one way, and selling clutter from around the house being another). These 'zero budget' categories include CDs, books, clothes, days out, holidays.....
I initially thought I'd allow myself 1 day a week (4 or 5 a month) 'non allowed' spending, which means I'd be aiming for 18-21 NSDs. From there I debated 20 as a nice round number, but that'd be really tough for February
So can I please set my target to 15 NSDs a month, and I'll see how I get on with increasing that the first months with an eye to increasing my base target by July.Cheryl0 -

Welcome all newbies and oldies! Due to a slight misunderstanding our cruise is round the Arctic Circle instead of the tropics ( kicks Igor ) so line up, everybody, and Knitwitch will take your measurements for your hand knitted thermal knickers. On board the good ship Ennessdee there will be free food and drink and free entertainment every day, so no excuse for not racking up the NSDs this month! The Tardis will be round first thing tomorrow to pick us all up to meet our ship. The champagne is chilling, the ferret and chutney vol au vents are ready and the brass band is tuning up on the quayside. They look rather familiar....what's that on their jackets? G O B........Gob? Funny name for a band......perhaps it is an acronym......G O B....what could that stand for?
Oh no. I think I have guessed.......(kicks Igor on the way out)One life - your life - live it!0 -
