Yep, I count the days I part with money. So if OH picks something up for me mid-week it makes Saturday a spend day (as that's when I next see him, so can't pay back until then)

But if I have a spend day in the meantime I allocate the money then (put the correct change to one side), so it becomes part of that spend day instead ;)

  • Hooray! First two of my NSDs completed yesterday- so I'm at 2/10 now and have completed my 2 consecutive days, too. :-D

Heading out to a birthday party for a dear friend tonight and really hoping to keep the spending in check so as not to totally undo all of the good work. Any tips? Maybe if I just withdraw the amount I'm prepared to spend and go home when it's run out? I never feel comfortable completely ciutting off access to funds on a night out (ie leaving the card at home) in case I get into an unexpected bind and need to get a cab (live in London so night transport isn't always reliable). It seems so obvious to only take what I'm prepared to spend, but I rarely if ever have any big spends or outlays and am getting better at budgeting for things like food and bills. Where I often fall off track is on the occasional nights out where I end up dropping more than I intended... Which I really need to get in hand!
