Hi I also received a fine today from G24 for parking with my rear wheel over a bay line. I drive a 4x4 so the bay's are tight anyway. Should I contest it, pay it or ignore it please.... The fine is £42 if paid in 14 days which increases to £70 after 30 days. Many thanks.

Also just a point of note, the fine was addressed to my husband but it was me and my car, how does that stand up too ?

What has your odd reply got to do with this OP who doesn't have a 'parking fine' at all?! Get real, he or she has a 'charge' from a notoriously badly-organised bunch of chancers, who issue fake PCNs and who are sooo easy to beat on appeal it's laughable.

If you have actually ever PAID any private firm for a fake PCN, whilst being a regular MSEer, then you have missed the advice that's been under your nose all the time and you've been had! Do you send money by Western Union to Nigerian Princes as well? Similar thing...impersonation of authority in order to extort money...

Even the vast majority of Council PCNs (real ones) are almost always able to be beaten on appeal if you go to the next stages, and should not just be paid.

Question, I will be away from home on business when the NTK letter arrives, is there a limited time to respond to that letter?

How long are you away for? (The NtK can arrive any time between 29 and 56 days after a windscreen ticket, for keeper liability to apply. As your ticket was 29/12/14, the NtK can be expected any time from 27/1/15 to 23/2/15 [by my quick calculation], and the 28 days starts on the posting date of the NtK).
  • I have the NTK letter and will be replying with the template letter on MSE. I will keep you posted on my progress.

Well I promised an update and here it is.

I received one letter from UKPC explaining that my letter of appeal was been investigated.

I received another letter a week later saying that they had investigated the appeal based on the information submitted by myself and confirmed that in this instance the parking charge had been cancelled. They went onto say that they strive to deliver a high quality service that enhances the existing quality standards insisted upon by our client and ensure our Wardens are stringently trained to meet these expected standards.

Oh and they apologised for any inconvenience.

That's 2/2 to me, the sad thing is I returned to the trading estate where this notice was issued only the other weekend and found a dear old lady in tears who to had just received a parking notice. I gave her the details of this website and tried to reassure her and that she should challenge the notice.

I will be writing to the CEO's of the shops surrounding this area and insist that the landlord makes the parking areas clearer.

Thanks MSE for the guidance on how to challenge these parking notices, I am a law abiding citizen and never knowingly park where I shouldn't!!

    Well done, excellent outcome!

Now, please do us a favour and tell all your friends about the private car park 'management' charade, the business model of which is principally aimed at issuing penalties to motorists and relieving them of eye-watering amounts of money. As you now know, they can be seen off with help from the forum.

Use Facebook and Twitter to tell your friends, and ask them to pass on the message to their friends. The more people know, the more sense we can knock into this system.

Feel so sorry for the 'dear old lady'; she is no doubt the type who conforms to 'authority' and who PPCs love to prey on. If she is also lacking in computer skills/access/equipment, she really is a lamb to the slaughter in this game.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • I too feel really sorry for the lady and hope she has the courage to do something about it. I have already posted the letter on Facebook and have helped others in similar situations.

I am interested to see if I get a reply from the CEO's I will be writing to, I won't hold my breath though.

Thanks for the advice along the way, I can recommend an excellent book by Helen Dewdney called 'How to Complain: The Essential Consumer Guide to Getting Refunds, Redress and Results!'

I no longer will be a push over for retailers or companies that try to fob off their customers, I am learning what my consumer rights are.
