Parking Charge UKPC - Not parked correctly within the markings of the bay or space

I have read through the newbie threads and have decided to open my own thread to inform others of my progress.

I have in the past received a similar PCN from Parking Eye and did at the time choose to ignore all correspondence. The letters and threats eventually stopped, however, having now collected my second PCN I thought it wise to check on MSE to see what has been happening with regard to PCN's since my last one.

Today I parked in what I believed was a parking bay at a retail park and on returning to my car found a PCN on my windscreen. When I went back into the PC World store they said it was a common problem and even their staff have had PCN's for parking in the same spot.

The parking bay looks like one and a half bays in width, has no yellow markings or disabled markings. There are no signs saying it is a loading bay only and there were other cars parked in the same area.

So I will wait for the NTK letter and challenge the obscene charge that they are demanding.

Grateful if anyone wants to offer any advice at anytime if you have had a similar PCN.

I have had a few parking fines in my time. If you break the rules you pay the price I guess. I have always paid them on time.

If your 'fines' were not issued by a court, you've been mugged.

If they were 'penalties' issued by the Polis or a council, and you've not challenged via appeal, you've possibly been mugged.

If your 'fine' was from a Private Parking Company (PPC), you've most certainly been mugged.

Why are you offering advice on a 'Money Saving' forum?

  • This is not a parking fine, it is a charge for £100, totally disproportionate when it is a free car park.

MSE has numerous useful threads where these parking charge notifications can be challenged and have subsequently been cancelled.

What has your odd reply got to do with this OP who doesn't have a 'parking fine' at all?! Get real, he or she has a 'charge' from a notoriously badly-organised bunch of chancers, who issue fake PCNs and who are sooo easy to beat on appeal it's laughable.

If you have actually ever PAID any private firm for a fake PCN, whilst being a regular MSEer, then you have missed the advice that's been under your nose all the time and you've been had! Do you send money by Western Union to Nigerian Princes as well? Similar thing...impersonation of authority in order to extort money...

Even the vast majority of Council PCNs (real ones) are almost always able to be beaten on appeal if you go to the next stages, and should not just be paid.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • The 2nd parking charge i successfully appealed was a few years ago when id not parked in a bay,but not parked on yellow lines or obstructing anybody.

Without knowing any of the other bits,i simply challenged on "as your charge relates to 'the' bay, please show me which specific bay that you are referring to'.

    Charge revoked.

4 months later and Roxburghe rock up with a debt collection letter suddenly wanting £185. They ignored the letter from NCP themselves despite sending a letter amd eventually ended up suing them for harrassment for £250!

Me too, but these are not fines, These are invoices for alleged damages caused by not abiding by the terms of unfair contracts.

I certainly was not proving advice. I am no expert. Perhaps I misunderstood the OP. I was just stating that if I park illegally then I would expect a fine.

You don't seem to know the difference between real fines issued by the council. and fake "fines" issued by private parking companies . You sya "parked illegally." Pray tell us actual statute law has been broken when you break a private parking company's "rules"?
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

I think you might have misunderstood the answer too. No worries, we'll sort things out.
