Any problems with ditching Oystercard now?

I'm a very infrequent traveller to London so may have completely missed how Oyster cards work. However when I used the contactless card I was really surprised that there was no way to get a record of the journeys taken or receipts. The only detail you get is the entry on your bank statement. If my employer was a bit more picky then mine and wanted to see receipts the only proof would be a bank statement which just has random money amounts on.
My impression was with an Oyster card you can look up an account history and get receipts, but perhaps I'm wrong.
Other than that it worked like a dream and saved the both and expense of an Oyster card.Saving for a deposit. £5440 of £11000 saved so far:j0 -

Even if you don't have/want an online account, you can still get the last seven days journey history.
Further details here.0 -
I tried contactless for the first time last week, at the City Airport DLR station.
The reader wouldn't accept the card I wanted to use (Co-op Visa Debit which I use frequently for contactless payments). I tried a different Visa Debit card which was accepted.
Not very impressed.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
If you were to register your contactless card, you will be able to see up to twelve months of your journey history on your TfL online account.

Thanks, that's useful to know as I tried contactless payment for the first time when visiting London last month (Barclaycard Amex) and it worked great but didn't know if there was a way to check journeys.

What did Co-op Bank have to say?0 -
Late at night, I'd rather get my Oyster card out than my bank card!0

Back to the original question:
I spotted this on another forum:
[keep your oyster card for] the riverboats, the Emirates Airline, or buses 15H, 402 and 477.
Thanks, yes, that's good advice. I did ditch my oystercard and would have used it the other day on the Thames Clipper if I still had it. But you can download an app and pay for the Thames Clipper with that instead.0 -
It works on the Emirates Airline (I used mine on it a couple of weeks ago).
Definitely not accepted on the boats still, according to the tfl website.0 -
There was one reference in the thread so far to keeping Oyster card because it had a Gold Card discount applied to it. A similar reason is that a Senior Railcard discount can be applied. These discounts are not available with contactless.0
