Many thanks for all you're help peeps....I'm getting excited now!!
:D And so you should be! I shall spend February gearing up for this dreadful thing called Year End, when all leave is cancelled in local authority land (you can fail to come to work if you're dead, but only with a doctor's note).

You'll probably be doing laundry about every 5 days, so 5-6 pairs of undercrackers should be sufficient. I'm a great fan of travelling light, it makes life so much more pleasant to have limited choices and less stuff to drag about. Dunno if precipitation is likely in Malta in Feb but if it's much of an option, you might like to take a lightweight waterproof shell jacket.

ETA; February in Malta averages about 6 cm of rain. Check out this site: http://www.maltaweather.com/?page_id=37

5-6 pairs of 'smalls'......are you mad?! 3 pairs max! One in the wash, one in drawer and one on my person! Now that's minimalistic!

I'm not that bothered about sunning myself, I like the scenery and culture there.
I promise it has nothing to do with my frugality, and not wanting to spend any money on sunscreen! Lol

Now I'm retired, I'm spending as much time out of the country during winter time. Also I'm meeting up with people I met there in November!

Thank you so much for you lovely comments and advice.

oh dear - I 'minimised' supper! was doing a pasta bake and stirred it half way through, put it back in oven and it 'caught' the top shelf, did a double salko with twist and dumped a good third on the floor and my hand! Yowch! Swore, then OH came in and helped me clean up the mess. (he was only little bit concerned there was enough left for his supper). Bless him, he wanted to take me down A&E, but, although I know all burns larger than a ten pence should be 'seen' by a medic - frankly, I cant be arrised to wait for four or five hours. and DD had gifted me an Aloe Vera plant (knowing my 'accident-proneness'). so one very shortened leaf later .........my hand is now pain free and the redness is going. isn't Nature wonderful? I had never used it on such a large area before - I cant believe how swiftly it works!

FunBrum you can wear a couple of tops on the plane, a vest type one a short sleeve one and a light weight sweater. I've done this several times when travelling light. I also use a cotton light weight bag to pack my stuff in which also doubles up as a general bag when unpacked. Wear the heaviest shoes which you will be taking you can always change them after you've gone through check in and if you get warm you can take your layers off too. My friend used to layer her cotton skirts too and wear a pair of shorts under. But my preference was to wear my jeans. Hope you have a great time xx
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

It was! but liberal applications of Aloe Vera and less than two hours later - its fine! I am a bit gobsmacked, as although I had used it on really minor burns - the pasta and cheese sauce felt like Napalm! my hand was really red and raw looking on most of the back of my hand! I rinsed hand under cold tap, applied about an inch worth of the leaf gel and one more application later - my hand is fine! no pain, no redness - just feels a bit 'tight'. rofl - I feel almost like I witnessed a 'miracle cure'!
  • Thanks meritaten I think I will get one of those I am getting more and more clumsy as I get older I know it is normal.

Oweee Meritaten :( That aloe vera sounds like a wonder plant - so glad you had it to hand!!)

With regards to traveling light - really work out how much of any goo you use and put it into lightweight bottles. (by which I mean moisturiser/shampoo/shower gel etc i.e. do not take whole bottles as some of these weigh a lot and you will just be bringing them back with you!

Minimising today has been mostly of old boxes that I have been saving for ages - thinking - 'they will come in handy'. So one has 'cinnamon stars' (cinnamon biscuits) in - one has chocolate truffles - one has chocolate jumbles and one has dried orange slices - threaded with ribbon to use as tree decorations. Also minimised a lot of wrapping paper discovered during my recent delcutter! :j

Making do - had the last of the marinaded chicken in a YS pitta bread for lunch and a third of the meal I made yesterday and the other third has gone into the freezer. Am also still making do with oil radiators (the moveable sort) as the recently plastered wall has almost but not quite dried out above the radiator and if I put the raditator on the finish may crack  - but thank the Gods - its not been really cold! :D

Mending - no time today but during my great plastering clear up am developing a pile of mending to do!
