Jackie - a good holiday with the family is worth every penny! When you divide the cost between you all plus the cost of kennels its probably not as expensive as it first sounds. I was going to suggest you try Red Funnel as they are cheaper than Wightlink! We live just 20 mins from WL terminal but use RF 'cos they're cheaper ( and you can have a meal on board!) Since I bought my little boat we've been going to Bembridge - another lovely spot. Takes me about 3-4 hours to sail there though!!! Must admit I think the IoW is an undiscovered gem and I love it too.
PS You may already know but there is a Lidl at the back of Shanklin ;)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Well, I rarely go anywhere, so feel no guilt whatsoever about my jaunt last night to a local tourist attraction. Very local! its less than ten minutes away. I have been before, a few times but only on day tours and to the visitors centre. and my son and dil got married there. But, I have wanted to do one of their 'ghost tours' since they started.

Here is the link to the tourist attraction

I wont bang on about what happened, I have written about it on my 'Grandcat' thread up in 'Pets forum'.

Made do and minimized with a tin of ood beans on top of toast for tea.
Also minimized bedding. I bought some new flannelette sheets so some very old ones have been put out for the cs with some throws that are past their best. Still useful to someone I hope.:)
    No mending today.

After ages and ages of prep (sanding plaster/filling/sanding) am now on to the painting stage of the back bedroom!! Done the ceiling today - yea!!! Also, while I had the white brush out I touched up a few bits here and there. :D

so I think that might count as Mend??
Make Do was a microwaved dinner which was half what I cooked last night which was a parsnip stir fry with noodles - Yum Yum :)
No Minimising as such unless you count the using up of paint and food!!! LOL :rotfl:

Have been looking on the HM Christmas thread and it so brilliant - folks from there have been so kind and responded to PMs asking how they did things :-)

Gettin all enthusiastic now! Well, its nearly December - its after my birthday - so Im entitled! :rotfl:

sorry folks - I forget sometimes, and lapse into Wenglish! Cwtched is a very much still used Welsh word here!
you can have a cwtch - Hug (briefly or somewhat akin to 'snogging'!
you can be cwtched up - nice and snuggly in front of fire or in bed
it can also mean to 'cwtch' - Hide. or conceal something.
Cw -coo as in cook tch - ch as in chain

Having been MIA I am now able to be back, apron wearing and making do. :D

I have a chicken in the SC for meal tonight but will be saving the stock and left overs for chicken and sweetcorn soup.

In the oven I have a carrot cake (although hardly OS as I lazily used the chuck it in the processor and whizz method) Yorkshires and roasties. They will be heated later. All items are having to compromise over temps but mediocre is ok today. I'd rather that than waste a lot of electricity.

A bit of making do/mending consists in taking the hem down in too short trousers for eldest. She's a slender girl who doesn't need any new according to fit but they are becoming quite short.

I am also crocheting round my ear muffs to change the colour on the woollen
parts. For no reason other to make them match my coat and scarf.

Also becoming selective on ironing. My things on the whole are going straight in the wardrobe and will only be ironing uniform for DH and kiddlers. That Is improvement as I ironed everything once upon a time.
