    Can anyone help me with the term for the following bread?

    It's a large rounded dough on the bottom with a smaller rounded dough on the top and I think it has a hole in the top.

    I'd like to read about it but google is proving that it's only as good as the buffoon that is typing in the search term :o:rotfl:

    Nellie - your garden looks lovely :)

    I've got the next few days off which is great so time to tackle the wee list I made - I've also added clean windows and do a cupboard/freezer inventory to it.

    I'm popping round to see a friend this afternoon so thought I'd bake some gf scones this morning to take round. I also need to make more bread as I've only got a few slices left in the freezer.

    Right better get on with it but first of all a coffee :D

    Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Morning all,

    It is back to work for both of us today. I've already dealt with the e-mails etc. this morning and there is a load of wash on the line. Fish is defrosting for tea and just having a quick morning break.

    Not so much on the MMM front--another batch of mint drying. My little patch of it is in the vicinity of the fence so I'm trying to do as much of it as I can now as I have a suspicion that my slow cut and come again method may be suppered if the last of this year's crop gets trampled. Flapjacks from yesterday were ok--a bit too crumbly. I used a recipe with honey rather than golden syrup as we somehow ended up with an extra bottle of it last month. We don't eat much honey so wanted to work out a way to use it. I also added in some coconut I had lurking. OH has requested them more regularly but asked for healthier versions, so I'm thinking dried fruit and nuts might be nice. Fortunately his school doesn't have a nut ban as they're really useful for filling his hollow legs!

    I didn't make it to the gym yesterday so will do that this afternoon and then tonight's tea is white fish in panko (think it might be cod), green beans, sweet potatoes (either baked or wedges) and a small salad of the 'lurking bits.'

    Will also try for some knitting over my lunch break--I've just the two sleeves and button band to go!

    Thanks for the mention of the cottage loaf. I've never seen one before and had a quick read last night. Very interesting, might give one a go sometime in the future!
  • FPK flapjacks are lovely if you make them plain but make a layer of dates that have been cooked in a little water to soften them and put half the flapjack into the tin then a layer of dates and then the rest of the flapjack mix. Cooking time is the same as normal and they're very yummy!
  • Ooh, nice idea Mrs LW! I hadn't thought of a layering effect. I'll find some dates for the next batch.

    Mrs LW - your mincemeat flapjacks are divine. DS says it's the best cake he's ever had :T

    I have made do food wise today - Cooked a roast on Sunday and, where we stay in Wales, we only have a small freezer compartment at the top of the fridge, so I plated up the extras and am having that tonight while the others have spag bog (with left over bog frozen). I boiled up the carcass for stock and will make soup - I should just be able to squeeze a few soup portions in.

    I am about to "shabby chic" a nest of tables I bought off the bay of E - nothing fancy, just chalk paint. They are G plan and very sturdy but need a little something..
