    Delurking again!

Like Camelot1001, I have the Be-Ro cookbook and use it regularly. It is the 38th Edition, I can't see anywhere that says the year it was printed but I seem to have had it all my married life which is or rather, would have been 42yrs this October.

That takes me onto the wedding-on-a-shoestring stories, I've loved reading them as mine was certainly that! My friend made my dress (turquoise, I was a 'cool young thing' and wanted to buck tradition:cool::laugh:) My aunt made and iced a 2 tier cake, my mum, MiL and Nan did the catering and our best man did the disco and then we spent £50 on our honeymoon to Jersey!! Where have all those years gone??

Hope everyone has a good weekend. x

ps I have a delicious recipe for Brownies if anyone is interested- I got it from the Jackie magazine when I was 13:rotfl:

PS for JackieO - I just got a Remoska - arrived today from the Czech Republic - Do you have any good recipes I can try to get me started please? I will be taking it over to the ROI on Monday to be used as our only cooker for a week, so if you know any easy stuff, I'd be very grateful!!

If you mash the chickpeas they will make falafels or veggie meatballs. You could also use it to make houmus.

    Hiya All

I have never heard that Zen saying before GQ and I think it is very wise - people forget that money does not solve everything - being physically and/or mentally well and able are great gifts which we all need to look after! However the saying does remind me of the Dali Lama's type of humour. :D

Jackie O - Im not at home or I would look up my falafel recipie for you - even confirmed carnivours love em and they can be served hot or cold and they freeze well. Mine are grilled (brushed with oil) rather than deep fryed so they are healthier too! Will post once I get home!

sashanut - I read your signature with interest - you are obviously one who has succeeded in saving/earning quite a lot of monies to clear both your debt and your mortgage. Absolutely brilliant! Well done! It would be fascinating to know when your Light Bulb moment was and what was the best extra earning thing you did (we tend to be quite good on here at saving). Many thanks if you feel like divulging!

Viv - enjoy your 6 grandchildren!! You are such a lively soul I am sure you will find ways to entertain them - especially entertaining them for nowt!

Brilliant day today - went up to Carn Grey with the dog - I had never been there before - it has the most amazing views once you get up there (its quite a steep path) right over St Austell bay and upward towards Bodmin moor with Rowtor and Brown Willie (the highest peaks) visible in the clear light today. Then I went ot a little bakers that has been around since my childhood and bought a delicious loaf of bread - oh the simple pleasures!!! Total cost £1.50!! :p
Feeling very blessed and happy today. :)

    Good Morning lovely people.

Wall to wall sunshine here, grrrrrrrrrrr.Weather forecast was rain so we decided against doing a carbootsale.DD1 gone to Sheffield in my car,Mr V at work,so frustrated,I will never get rid of all this stuff!

Speaking of stuff,I have more of it after moving Ds from Oxford to Harrogate. As they are going to Canada for 2 years they don't need an iron, kettle, toaster, bedding etc!

met his GF's parents yesterday and had a visit to their stunning house. How the other half live.Very nice people and most hospitable.

As we still had the borrowed van we collected all the plants and bench from my Mum's and a load of Indian stone I have been keeping in someones back garden. So as it is a beautiful day I will get out and start to lay a path round the newly cleared front garden.

I will save the decorating for a wet day.

Like elona, another vote for hummus - gorgeous in homemade wraps :-)

For colder weather I always find chick peas a lovely addition to a beef stew, (and butter beans in a pork stew).

I'ts chucking it down here & looks set in for the day, I'm pickling beetroot today, we have a bumper crop, more than I can eat so pickling is the way to go I think.
Apart from that I shall be crocheting, I have 2 blankets to make, one cream & one blue, I think I'll do both of them c2c.

Another one here 'doing' beetroot. I hadn't intended to today, but picked up some at the farm this morning (mine is still struggling). Also have made a fruit salad.
