  • Hi Ricarda
I've always had loads of toiletries in stock - shower gels, body lotions, shampoos etc. I've been working my way through them the last year or so. I actually have a list now for each category lol! As soon as something is finished I cross it off the list. It helps me keep track & stops me from buying so much. I've now actually ran out of shower gel & I'm using up little bars of hotel soaps. I joined the last bit of one bar to a new one this morning :)

I very rarely buy smellies, I get lots of presents from the children at school for Christmas and the end of term and they usually last me all year. Also, my DD works for a company that makes and sells smelly things so I am very lucky in that department.

Lifted the landing and stair carpet today and removed all the staples and most of the gripper strips, some are too awkward and the builders will have to do that but I have saved paying them a couple of hours work.

Evening All - just popping in to say hello & catching up with the posts. The wedding stories are lovely.
Was supposed to be sailing all weekend on a rally - we left yesterday morning & wouldn't you know the wind & weather turned foul so instead we (DH & I) battled to the marina along with another boat. We got there first & I jumped off the boat onto the pontoon which was so bouncy I ended up in the water! Found my lifejacket DH bought me for my birthday inflated almost immediatly. Felt a right plonker splashing around fully dressed in about 3 meters of water looking like a beached whale!!
My friend had a problem with her engine - no forward power! Managed to get it working so we stayed overnight at the marina & returned today so we could follow her in case she had any difficulties. Did manage to sail halfway home in light winds and lovely sunshine & then typical English weather changed again so we battled the rest of the way. So glad to be home :) but totally shattered so an early night.
Thank you for the link to FP's scones - will be baking some during the week.

silvasava sorry but I just drenched my key board in coffee:):):) a bouncing sailor on a pontoon made me laugh I know its naughty but its a classic moment :):):).Good job your lifejacket opened though.

Well its been raining for the past hour, but starting to dry up now.DGS Henry was on his second day of his new paper round today and bless him he got drenched and the papers got a bit muddled but he carried on regardless and I have been texting him with encouraging words since 7.15 :):) I am so proud of him as it was a rotten day but he is a determinded little guy and sees the end result of a new game for his Xbox for his hard work in the rain :):)

we are supposed to be going to the beach today but we'll have to see if the weather brightens up a bit first. No spending but a picnic lunch,if not the beach then at least out somehwere with the boys and DD Son-in-law has some work to do at home and is happy to stay in and get on with it and look after the dogs

JackieO - yes I looked just like that! DH had to haul me out by the back of the lifejacket cos it was so inflated I couldn't get out on my own - good job it had a crotch strap :rotfl: Seriously tho I was very impressed with how they inflate & keep you supported and safe.
It's our 41st wedding anniversary today , not doing anything special just a nice relaxing Sunday (& washing salty clothes ;))

Grandmasam I discovered chilling the flour quite by accident. When I first started making the recipe I was living in a bedsit with a tiny kitchen off to one side. The best place I could find to keep my flour was the freezer. Of course now I have to make room for it in my overstuffed freezer specially;)

Mum and Dad left Friday. I think they had a nice visit but I was shattered. OH and I made the most of our train tickets to see them off and stopped off in town to do a few errands. Last night a very dear couple of friends were celebrating their birthday so we went along for some drinks and then I slept until 9:30 this morning. I was up all night with food poisoning one night while mum and dad were here but was determined to rally the next day and not waste our time so I have a bit of catching up to do.

We leave on holiday in just a few days--the three years in the making beach holiday--we're both over the moon excited about it. I'm about to plan the menus for between now and then and try to keep costs down so every little bit of extra can go towards our spending money. It has been an expensive month so I think we'll try to keep August lean and catch up on our savings a bit.

Today is menu planning, shopping and laundry.
