Morning Everyone,
I hesitate to give advice as I'm a novice gardener, but going from this year's experience, I planted kale, perpetual spinach and sprouting broccoli and they are rampant! I'm in Lincolnshire too (near Thoresway) and without wishing to boast as I know nothing, my garden is beginning to bloom (its third summer) even though I live at one of the highest areas in Lincolnshire and we really get windy weather. Even my farmer landlady complimented me on my garden yesterday, so my enthusiasm and interest in it is soaring - a little encouragement always helps.
Have a great day, Everyone. I'm sure all of us who go to the 'Meet' at Jan's on Friday, will have loads to talk about
next week.

Ah, this is where some of you are!
I have been very busy, so not posting much on MSE lately , but oh Lyn, how sad I was about Docky, how lucky he was to have had you. How good it is that we have that option to do the kindest thing for all our animals. It is so strange when you open the door, it took me months to get used to that...
Much love and I will pop back now that I have found you. Must crack on with work!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Thanks for all the advice pals - much appreciated. I'm off now to consult Carol so I can make a decision and get off to a good start for winter (sorry about that)
Just taken a load of carp to the local tip (brick rubble and an old chipboard carcass) There was a load of decent wood in the skip there & I commented to one of the chaps on the waste of good burning wood & he said hang on I'll hook some out for you! So now I have a free source of some kindling for DH to chop up - he'll be so pleased (haha)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Would you share what you decide silvasava? I'm not sure what to do as we don't know if we'll get a new plot (although highly likely with the Allotment Assc. membership) and when we'll get it if we do but I don't want it sat doing nothing all winter either?0

Fuddle - had a look at Carol's book & I've decided on PSB,Kale and Swiss Chard as they all seem to be OK to be sown now for a crop over the winter. I don't have a very big space n the right spot so I'll need to plan carefully! Do you know how long you have the current allotment for - I seem to remember you saying - maybe you could plant a few bits to keep you going until they close down?Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

We have it till the end of September silasava.
We do like purple sprouting broccoli and kale so I will look into both more in detail, thanks for doing the hard work! I have those books reserved so hopefully they will turn up at the library soon.
In all honesty the new plot will need a lot of back breaking work and planning so it wouldn't be ready anyway. Still it would be nice to grow something so a few things sowed can't hurt.0 -
Well folks been wild with extravagance today - went and bought a new pair of jeans - the others had developed strange holes on the legs (not between where they usually go??) £18 and at last found a non underwired bra that was also pretty £12 (my other bras are ancient and getting to the point where I dont want to put them on the line
I was waiting till I lost weight to buy more but I think I need the fix to the self esteem right now! These were both from Yours shop - v glad to advertise them as they are a brilliant store for cuddlier folk - I can buy jeans from there (short length) and they fit - they design jeans with a curve into the waist rather than straight so they fit a 'womanly' shape - unlike most jeans!
Am not going to apologise for these purchases because they were needed. They are more than my budget at the moment but things are all lined up for eb!y - and will be getting them on there on Monday!! So hopefully that will 'pay' for them.
MM&M - nearly went out and bought bread at lunchtime - but realised I had some YS pitta breads in the freezer so used them instead. However, a bit sadly, my trips to the little co!p, to glean YS goods are becoming more and more fruitless - whether someone gets there first or they ve changed their YS regime I dont know. Think I will have to find somewhere else to go YS ing! LOL! A new Morrisi has opened not far from the route home - are their YS times standard does anyone know or do they vary from shop to shop?

Lynplatinum I love the idea of 'cuddlier' clothes as I too am more of a 'cuddlier person' :)Sounds so much nicer I think:) I was always a 'string bean' frowing up and it wasn't until my 60s that I started to get a bit more err...'rounded' shall we say.
Blasted cold is still hanging around and hence the reason I am up with the birds this morning .I woke arond 4.45 this morning sneezing for England, wide awake and the sun coming up.So I decided that sleep was not going to return so got up and made a cuppa.
Looks as though its going to be a nice day as looking out of the window of my study aka 'back box bedroom 'I watched the sun rise over the River Medway. Glorious free picture and it makes me wish I could paint it. Sometimes its the most unexpected things that give you the most pleasure in your day,the fact its a free picture show into the bargain is quite awe inspiring at times, hark at me waxing on poetically at half five in the morning:):)
Well today my gardener will be back to finish off the new ramp in the garden (mega bucks but well worth it ) and I am very pleased with what he has done bless him.
I have a little bit of banking to sort out, plus a very small amount of shopping ,mostly just a little bit of fruit and veg.I will take my shopping trolley though as I'm still not able to carry much I have another hospital appointment this afternoon and I am hoping they will remove some more stitches.
DGS Ben is coming home from Uni this Saturday and I can't wait to see him. I found a nice card in my stash for DGD Holly's B/F for his birthday next week so I just need to get it written for my eldest Dd to take with her on Sunday as he will be at her house next week on his birthday. No point sending it via the post I try to deliver as many birthday cards by hand if I can as postage is not that reliable locally and quite expensive I think.
I may try and make some choc chip cookies for DGS's this morning as the youngest one keeps 'popping' in to make sure I am OK:):) I'm not too sure if its me or the lure of my cake/cookie tins.
Hope you all have a good day what ever you are doing
Cheers chums
