I know where to come for advice!
I already have lettuce seeds gifted by our very own MrsLurcherwalker so will be concentrating on those, rocket and herbs for this season. I am very daunted to tell you the truth but DH is very keen too so at least we'll make the mistakes together.

Viv sorry got your name and user name blended before, doh.
Fuddle,it's so nice that you are both enthusiastic about your allotment, good luck with it. Vx:0 -
Good news on the allotments, think of me trying to grow a few veggies in no more than a postage stamp sized garden! It may be small but I am really enjoying it, the courgettes have been planted out today, hope the weather is kind to them.
Well, I have mended DDs bra and also the lining of her leather jacket, she wears large rings and they have ripped the inside. Not a pretty job but it will do a turn and as my old mum used to say 'a blind man would be glad to see it'.0 -
Congratulations on the allotment Fuddle. Your not going to get much time to clear much of it are you.0

Well done Fuddle - plenty of good advice on here and from MrsL and He WhoKnows! I'd go for the stuff that will give you the quickest return - get those runner beans in PDQ!! You may end up with enough to last you 'till next year
Are you going to let the girls have a patch?
Please don't be daunted - we all had to start from scratch one way or another. You're a woman - you can do it!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
No, not enough time to clear much of it but it's a means to an end. Hopefully by having this over the summer we will get offered a plot on the new site and if we dont we'll be right at the top of the waiting list.
So for now it's a summer of fun and getting stuck in. Yeah the girls will have their own patch and I can see they are going to love it.
Quick Q though. Lyn and HeWhoKnows gave me raspberry canes over the winter. It's too late to move them to pastures a la more space isn't it?
Off to go investigate bird scarers made out of household waste0 -
Fuddle the raspberries are just coming into bud at this time - you could move them but it will probably be at the expense of any fruit this season. Also, they send up new shoots for next year from the roots so TBH I would leave them where they are until they can have a permanent home.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Well done on the allotment Fuddle.
I'll be making to this weekend, we had friends over for a buffet yesterday, hubby & I will be making do with leftovers to eat this weekend & probably in to next week too.
I shall also be mending, DGD who is 7 is coming over this afternoon & she is bringing some clothes with her that need repairing.

Had a call from DGD yesterday afternoon - would I tidy up her eyebrows for her. When she came round she also brought a Jumpsuit and a pair of trousers to be shortened and a jumper to be taken in! Still she'll cut & colour my hair for me next week so fair exchange!!
Off for a little sail today with my mentor who's going to show me how to anchor at sea!!!!
Have a good day all xxSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Good Morning, Folks,
I have been around but am in the process of painting all of my garden furniture. I was somewhat remiss last winter and left it outside so it was looking rather grey and dull and sorry for itself. I started by painting the trellis I bought a week or so ago and then sort of got caught up with painting the table and chairs. It's beginning to look nice but is very time consuming, especially the legs as they are all folding, so consequently you can't do a whole leg in one fell swoop. All MMM though as I had an enormous tub of green paint.
Still on the subject of gardening, I could hand out allotments in my own back garden and still have plenty to spare for myself; but I'm proud to report that my seedlings appear to be thriving and when I go shopping later today I intend to buy some more seed trays so I can plant even more.
My DB went offshore on Thursday so no wining and dining this weekend, just a few good sessions in the garden, weather permitting.
I will get round to recipes again, it's just that the garden is taking up a lot of my time at the moment and of course it's half term so my grandchildren will be around.
Have a great day, All.
Viv xx
