I think it is just worrying about it Vulpix it is a big op to consider can be very worrying no wonder you are very bad tempered. The consequences of not having it does not bear thinking about so it must be very difficult. Not much of a choice.

I would tell him why you have been bad tempered and give him a hug. Sitting down and talking about it will help you both. He may have been annoying because he is worried. A big Hug from me and as many as you need.
  • Aaah, Corned Beef Butties. My Mum always made them for me when I went to the Swimming Baths. After swimming for ages, I'd get out of the water, nearly faint with hunger, sit in my cubicle and tuck in...bliss.
  • Sorry, I was behind in the thread and posted a quick reply, now I see it's landed most inappropriately. Back surgery trumps corned beef butties any day.
Vulpix: so sorry you've had this awful news and please tell me to shut up, but I see a Chiropractor in Warrington, I believe she's one of the best in the country. It is possible that surgery isn't the only option. All the best with it anyway.

Vulpix not trying to give medical advice but going by what you have said I would not use a Chiropractor he/she could make it worse.

Aren't I right in thinking you can now choose on the NHS, to have your operation anywhere in the UK? If that is so, I would be investigating all specialist surgeons relevant to your condition, vulpix.

True Viv but she will need to have it near to home as it is more stressful travelling back after the surgery. Much better in this instance to be near to home.

so sorry to hear this vulpix. I have degenerative disk disease in the lower spine - have had it for over 25 years and I too was advised to have an operation - as if it was a 'given'. I read up on it. and sought a second opinion (privately). the upshot was that I had enough information to make the choice. and chose NOT to have the operation.
I am not saying not to have the op - just get AS MUCH information as you can and then make your decision. it will be the right one for you then.
I wish you all the best - I know how debilitating this chronic pain can be. I have my methods of coping but everyone must find their own path.
