Afternoon everyone
Vulpix, hope all goes well with the op - what a horrible thing to have to face.
Welcome to the new folk who have joined the thread, the more the merrier!
I've got today off work so have been busy cleaning, ironing etc. I washed the filters in the dyson a few days ago (for the first time ever) and what a difference it's made. This afternoon I plan to finally get round to making the birthday cards and also minimise the paperwork mountain.
Hope everyone is having a good/productive day.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Vulpix...sending virtual (and gentle!!!!) hugs!
Been busy today...finally ate my way out of the freezer this week! So spent this morning defrosting it. Have now put a couple of items in to start the restocking....had a bit of a minor-scare, when I switched it back on the freezer started making popping/banging sounds every 10 to 15 minutes...LOUD!....I gave the freezer a bit of a tug and it seems to have settled ...only one or two gentle noises in the last hour. I'm thinking the kitchenette floor is a little uneven just where the freezer stands and it was protesting!
Next week or so will be spent in restocking...a few soups (it is still rather chilly here and I love soup!)...some mince in tomato sauce possibly (always useful to have...so versatile)...and I'll see what 'specials' I can find meat-wise when I go shopping next.
I'm also pretty much out of bread, so will be doing a bake too.
Corned beef sarnies (and bacon butties too for that matter!) HAVE to be with brown sauce...anything else is just wrong!
The sheltered housing block I live in is having a 'table-top' sale at the beginning of next month...so a good incentive for me to get rid of some dust-gatherers. Nothing much (I did a massive de-cluttering before I moved here)...a small vase...a little portable radio I never listened to (it was an unwanted gift some years ago...I listen to the radio through my TV)...and an old alarm clock (I got a new on at Christmas)....I'll have a look and see if I can find anything else.0 -
Evening All,
No internet connection for the last 24+ hours. Just a 'quickie' to say that there are quite a few people in the Lincolnshire/Yorkshire area (and anyone else who is prepared to travel of course) who are interested in a 'Meet'. So if you want to pm me, I'm more than happy to cook you all lunch/afternoon tea if we can sort a date out. I'm away at Jan's 'Meet' and will probably be away all that weekend so that I can enjoy the 'Big City'. Recipe later if I've caught up with my emails, if not, I promise tomorrow.

vhalla it's even harder to go West to East than to go to London by train. Perhaps we should have two meet ups in the north. I am in Greater Manchester.0

Hiya all
Sorry been off line - as far as my cosy lap top on the sofa is concerned - dunno what was the matter with it - seems OKish today???
Therefore very shocked at your news Vulpix. I cant give you any better advice than what is already on here from kind folk but I agree being as informed as possible (from more than one source is a good idea.) The NHS were fab with me but do check out what is said. That and house moving seems a heavy burden mate - I know those on here will help you in whatever way we can.
Hi all new folk welcome to one of the friendliest forums on the net :-)
Well, on Tuesday I spent an extra 87p on 6 wholemeal rolls for a quick portable lunch option for the rest of this week!! So this week = £3.74 So that is week 2 at less than £5 per week!! I have nt starved honest - used my cheese (in fridge) for sanis and my ham that I cooked and froze. Meals have been rice and cuscus based with sauted veg and yogurt on top. Plus some sausages I had in the freezer! Also bacon (in fridge), beans and egg! Plus veg from my veg box (mushrooms peppers onions - a left over leek etc) Also made cakes. I missing fruit but plan to buy a cooking apple and make up a healthy crumble (recipe later) and use up some of my tinned fruit that I never really use - don't know why I keep on buying it???
Next week I will need: loo roll; eggs; butter; oatcakes and peanut butter therefore I wont put the remaining £1.26 into savings but will use them for purchasing the above as they MAY go over the £5! LOL
Can I survive week 3???
Entertainment budget of £5 cheated on slightly - I did not go out tonight (usually a 'curry night' at Weather!poons) but bought meself a ready meal from Co-!op on the way home - too tired to deal with noise and other folks tonight! And the two people whos company I mainly enjoy there are away so - I ve enjoyed my own and you folks
Glad I could get back on more tomorrow!!nite :-)Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)

Thank you for your good wishes lovely people.Have actually had a productive talk with Mr V,so feeling better about it.Just concentrating on the house thing now.Looking at one next week.It is cheap because it's minging. They didn't even tidy up or make beds for the estate agent's photos. It is however on a very good street and has a south facing garden.I can do hard work,so this may be the one.
Youngests friend coming for a sleepover tonight and we are off to Liverpool in the morning 'till Sunday.
Just thought I could host a meet with a cleaning/scrubbing theme!Val I would love to come to yours,I could perhaps combine it with a visit to an old colleague who moved to Lincolnshire.I don't mind driving cross country so could offer lifts.Vx:0 -
Right, let's do it! Anyone up for lunch/tea in July at my place?

Good news Re: allotment application. We take on one for the summer next week. It's short term as the plots are moving over the road, but being allotment holders at the time holds us in very good stead to be offered a yearly lease on the new site and if not enough plots we'll be hanging around the top of the list for the next offerings.
Couldn't have wished for any other outcome really0 -

Well done Fuddle and I hope you manage to get some good produce out of it. I too am starting late because the plot was very overgrown when I took it on. It is huge so I won't have to pirouette around on one foot to hoe the rows!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14
