JAN seems like a plan!!!
Each one of us, from reading all your posts have had life experiences in the past that have been disruptive and damaging, they have shaped the people we have become today and given us the outlook on life that we have. There is nothing that we can do to change the past, nothing that will alter one second of what has gone. What IS important is to start with today and look forward not back. To make those lives for ourselves that we have envisaged and dreamed of. We are a tough band of survivors, we have the cameraderie and the determination as a group to support each other to enable those changes to be forged and consolidated. I am very lucky to have what we now have in our lives, we have definitely cut out garment in life according to the cloth we had available and it's not brought riches and status but it has brought enough, stability and satisfaction to us and our family. What IS important is not the past but the future and that can be formed, can be manipulated and made good. There is an old saying that I love which is 'Ours is not to wonder what is fair in life, but finding what may be, to make it fair up to our means' and we CAN all do that!!!0 -
janb5 looking forward to it and I think the donation is a great idea..I start my 'training' this week and will slowly work my way up to my 'Race for Life' in July.
Not so much a race and a reasonably steady hobble as I have to use a stick to walk. But walk it I will, and remember all the brave ladies who I was in hospital with who sadly wern't as lucky as I was. Fingers crossed I hear soon from the hospital about my bed for the last op.
If not, then I will still do it, even though I shall be a bit lop-sided:):)Onwards and upwards is my motto.
This morning I have Book Club at the library,no where near a shop then I have to pop into the local disability shop as the spring that works the lever on my relaxer chair went 'ping' last night so I will see how much that will be to be repaired. My neighbour said why not buy a new chair ,but its only the spring thats clapped out, not the chair. As a new chair is around £700 I'd rather get my chair repaired I think:):) got to be cheaper
:):)
fingers crossed they can come round and fix it.
Came home with some left oover veg and a couple of slices of roast beef from DDs for dinner tonight so no cooking to do really ,just m'wave and some gravy and Roberts your Relative so to speak:):)
See you all later

Loved reading the posts of so many common life experiences. I think the theme that runs through so strongly is the resilience, the desire to do the best for our children and our refusal to be defined by other people's expectations - translated to 'Don't let the B**gers grind you down'
Lyn so pleased you enjoyed your trip 'darn sarf' MrsL & I are close to Portsmouth & we both appreciate how lucky we are to live in such a lovely part of the country.
Hayling is where I sail & there are some really lovely walks. If you have the opportunity to come down again I'm sure we could arrange a 'mini meet'
Off to do a pilenof dishwashing-was too lazy to do it last night so now I'll do penance lol!
Have a good day all xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I'm up for mini meets, Oh yes I am!!!0

Good Morning, Everyone,
The sun is shining here again, but there is still a cold wind blowing, and looking at the forecast, it's predicting it will be 59mph here today - I'll be outside checking my newly planted arrivals later whilst I edge the grass my DS cut for me yesterday.
Pleased you holidaymakers had good times; I'm hoping to go away with my DB later in the year; he's back from Krumlov tomorrow, has a meeting in Amsterdam on Wednesday and should hopefully be here for a few days before he's back at work offshore. Holiday plans have to be last minute!
I love Portsmouth and the surrounding area; I got to know it when my DD was at University; I remember her taking me to Southsea and I spent nearly all of my spare holiday money in the antique shops there. Happy memories.
In view of all our recent discussion, I thought you might like these quotations from Friedrich Nietzsche, the German philosopher - I think they are very apt.
'That which does not kill us only makes us stronger'
'You have your way, I have my way. As far as the right way, the correct way and the only way, it does not exist.'
Have a good day, Everyone.

What a fantastic quote vhalla - one worth remembering when we beat ourselves up for not doing what is "right".
I do feel for those younger than me especially with children. Working full time on top of bringing up a family is never easy. People have often said to me that they admire my determination to get a degree and better my opportunities when I had three young children, but to be honest the four years at university were a piece of cake compared to working full time once I graduated. I am a teacher and once I graduated I worked for 6 years in a Pupil Referral Unit (young people excluded from mainstream school). A rewarding job but exhausting and tbh I feel that the pressure of the job did mean that I wasn't able to make the most of my three daughters growing up and I do regret that. I know that GreyQueens post describing a working woman's day really resonated with me. My daughters have now grown and flown the nest and I am privileged to be nana to a gorgeous 7 year old. Her mam is also currently pregnant with a second granddaughter due on 21st May. I'm so looking forward to her birth as I have just finished a full time maternity cover and am now back to a one day week contract. I will be able to pick up the occasional extra days cover but MMM is going to be increasingly important if I want to continue working part time and be able to spend more time with my granddaughters.0 -
Morning all,
The YS pork joint was lovely last night and there's still plenty left. I'm going to have some in a sandwich for lunch before work, OH will have some for tea tonight with the leftover roast tatties and then tomorrow night for tea we're going to use up the rest in a stirfry. Not bad considering it cost £2.49
I got the sewing machine out this morning to sew a couple of buttons on my jacket, they hadn't fallen off but were just hanging on by a thread so that's them sorted now. Hope everyone has a good day.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
