    Afternoon All,

How frugal is this? I was dashing round trying to get everything done before my visitor arrived for lunch and I clumsily kicked over a tin of emulsion in the pantry. The lid wasn't on properly because of my stupid broken elbow. Cursing under my breath I started mopping it up with paper towels, then I had a light bulb moment and went and dabbed the paint sodden towels on the lobby wall to cover the marks as I had originally intended!

Here's how much I knew about babies when my daughter was born 47 years ago. I made a pile of silk and lawn embroidered dresses and nightdresses for her and nothing practical at all.

Babygrows with knitted cardigans and booties was the easiest and warmest gear for my seven, although I do remember having a couple of those long nightie things in 1970 for DD1....bloody awful thing to dry when I had no washing machine to wring them out really well!

Am currently knitting more cardigans for grandchildren 6 and 7....twins due to DD4 in August.

    Morning peeps

Well the weather here when I opened the blinds is total pants!!!!!
Had a rubbish day yesterday as I started biological meds (5hrs wired to a drip) so was hoping to get out in the fresh air and do some gardening. My cucumber seeds are not doing anything. I did wonder if no1 putty tat had been at them as he did look quite suspicious with a mucky face hmmmmmmm. However you can't get cross with him as DD has taught him to do roly polys so when you do try to tell him off he just lies down and roles over and over :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::

Finished circle for my crochet wreath so I might start on the flowers today, and I will have to make bread and biscuits as cupboards are getting bare.

I came across a recipe for using left over mashed potato in bread and I was just wondering if any of you lovely peeps have ever tired it? is it nice? and is it would give me another option for my left overs.
Many thanks, have a nice day what ever you are doing. xx

    :) Morning all.

kittym, sorry to hear you also have the pants weather in your region. The Sarf is grey and rainy, too, if it's any consolation.

Re the cucumber seeds, are they planted outdoors or in a greenhouse/ cold frame? If outdoors, it's really a bit too cold as yet for most things to germinate, so I wouldn't give up hope or sigh at the puddytat. I used to share an allotment with a woman who's cat (her house was opposite her lottie, lucky woman) used to love nothing more than joining you in the gardening.

His favourite trick was rolling over and over in freshly-disturbed earth, some of which had been just planted, grrr! But he was so sweet it was hard to be cross with him. Not that cats give a darn, anyway.

Today I will work on a sewing project which got sidetracked and forgotten last year, which is to make some more drawstring bags to contain linens more effieciently in my airing cupboard. The cupboard's contents is disembowelled all over the flat atm, due to last Saturday's discovery of a water leak from flat above, so it's a good time to do it.

I'm using a duvet cover from the chazzer (50p) and ribbons from the ribbon stash, so the only cost is thread (got loads at 10p each) and my time, and I quite enjoy sewing.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

The photos are great. My dog loved water and the picture bought back happy memories.

My two wore babygrows and handmade cardigans and jumpers and clothes that were given to us.

Yesterday I managed to plant the potatoes and moved some soil around to fill in holes and ditches. I built a bit more of a drystone wall(badly) and am going to sprinkle some wildflower seeds in front of it tomorrow.

I've already completed the ironing and need a quick tidy of the house before an all day hen do!

Grey and windy day here. Just got to do the zips in the last two cushions so I'll get those done today. Boat goes back in the water on Saturday so need to get the bags down from the loft with the lifejackets & crockery etc to go back on board.
Chuckling at the cat GQ - one of mine would always come & help me dig holes for bedding plants. She always looked a bit puzzled when I put a plant in the hole instead of doing a pooh in it!

    Hello Everyone,

What a horrible day as far as the weather is concerned; all my plans for washing cushion covers etc are on hold until there's an improvement.

I do hope there's an improvement in your health, kittym - how miserable for you.

As Plan A has come to nothing, I'll revert to plan B, which is to cull the free supermarket magazines and catalogues and see if I can glean a few good recipes for us. The bread is baking; I'm just trying to resist the temptation of making biscuits for the tribe. I'm also hoping that the '1001 ways to save money' book will arrive soon to see if there are yet more savings I can make!

    Speak later.

Grey day here. But looking forward to more daylight hours when the clocks spring forward in the early hours of Sunday morning. Grey or not, daylight is much anticipated by myself, and I'm sure, many others
