Please excuse my butting in Mooloo - I'm a regular reader and think you're an amazing mum and Gran/Nan and I'm so happy for you that the shop is doing so well.
Just thinking, I seem to remember you saying DS's GF has been in care; she may well be lazy, but could it also be that she hasn't a clue how to organise herself?
Also, I used to have terrible problems doing things like keeping up with housework and washing, and realised later that it had been the result of trauma when I was in my teens; I had been trying to behave normally (or whatever I thought "normal" was), but had very little mental energy to get anything done, because it was nearly all being used up in suppressing distressing memories (not abuse, something else).
All the good advice in the world wouldn't have helped me at that time, I simply couldn't do it. But I'm sure I would have come across as lazy to anyone else.
Will butt out again now0 -
Mooloo - have you thought about suggesting to DS & GF that they contact Homestart? Here's a link :- http://www.home-start.org.uk/findsupport/search?county=Northamptonshire

I will mention it.
I get the impression she won't want to engage with them, but I can try.
My fear would be that Social became involved, and bar some very good workers, the local council has not a very good record of helping, they are more likely to destroy a family.
Of course I am sceptical about them after my experience, but I have seen it with several other families too. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Most of Northamptonshire has Home-Start - I think they are over Moolooo's way.
They are brilliant with the situation that ivyleaf so eloquently & bravely describes.
One of the reasons they are usually welcomed is that they are NOT Social Services and will only involve them where there are clear safeguarding issues or specific help needed (eg: for disability)
Mooloo - look at their website - they are one of the most effective & efficient organisations I have ever worked with.0 -
I mentioned HomeStart to Biggest of Mooloo. She thinks it would be a good idea. Turns out that one of her friends works with them. When we see DS we will have a chat. See if we can get them to agree to ask for the help.
Meanwhile they have been granted their housing benefit. So it's the arrears we will need to make sure they tackle.
The forms for the Tax credits still hadn't arrived. Let's hope it arrives today.
On the work side for me, it has slowed down a lot. No more weddings on the Horizon, but we have a few days work to tackle still.
I posted the Thermal Bag on Saturday with guaranteed delivery today. I started the next one that was ordered.
I'm still waiting for the dimensions of the pans for another. Today I am closing the Clothing section, ready to move the sewing upstairs. Then rearrange the shop downstairs.
I'm on the look out for a large mirror for the changing room. The frame of my chival mirror is well and truely broken.
I would like a larger mirror for the Brides etc to be able to see themselves, possibly from a few angles. However funds are low, so it will have to wait until there is a little more spare. So I'm keeping my eyes out on the Freebie sites.
I have ordered a new curtain rail for the changing room, and will make curtains if I don't have any suitable. I have plenty of material at least.
So today is the start of a new phase at Mooloo's.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
mum comes home tomorrow
her house and garden are now ready for her. biggest of Mooloo is going to collect her from the airport in the afternoon.
The shop is very different now that I have made the changes to it
I have managed to hurt my lower back/right hip.
It has been a struggle the last two days. I am hoping that a hot bath will help.
The stairs up and down at the shop are quite a struggle. I feel as if I have gone back in time two years or more.
Luckily I am not teaching tonight. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Oh. The question marks are supposed to be emotions, smiley faces!
DGD has just told me she needs a clean or kit this morning. Right, like that is not going to happen. Why? Because the only kit she has is at school and unless she brings it home to be cleaned I can't help her.
She will be 8 next weekend. She has to learn to be responsible for some of her own things.
I think that my hip is going to be a problem for a little while longer, alas.
time to struggle up the stairs and get dressed.

Mooloo - can I suggest that you join the Turmeric group on F/B?
I was advised to join because of my elderly labrador - who has had a new lease of life since I started her on turmeric and I saw that people were using it for themselves too - and as it doesn't have adverse effects on the liver in the same way as anti-inflammatories can have, I decided to try tablets (couldn't face the paste) and my arthitic knee is no longer as swollen as it was, and I find that I can work my 5 hour shift without feeling that I need to crawl home! You may find it beneficial.0 -

Turmeric Users Group - closed group, but admins respond to requests to join almost instantly (world-wide group, so there's always someone monitoring threads).
Word of warning re 'tablets' - the very high percentage circumin ones are not recommended for long term use because they can cause liver damage.
Golden paste is quick to make, and if frozen in recycled pill blister packs is very easy to take just like any other tablet, washed down with a drink.
Or, as it's a spice rather than what is traditionally thought of as a medicine, the easiest way to take it is cooked in food, or mixed into smoothies etc - there are lots of delicious recipes on TUG page.0 -
Never heard of it. I will have to google it.
Plans changed and I went with Biggest of Mooloo's to Stansted to get my Mum.
One of my Mum friends collected DGD for me and I have only been home about 15 minutes.
Aloe Vera heat rub on my hip and lower back. It actually feels cold to me but it is taking the edge of of the pain, which after 6 hours in the car is not too good.
I was at work this morning and organised the staff before I left. My reception/sales lady's husband was putting the new changing room rail up for me when I left at lunchtime.
I don't have any lessons until 2pm tomorrow but I have taken a commission to do the soft furnishings on a 1970's Vw camper van so there is plenty of work for me to do this coming week. Which is a relief as it was quiet at the end of last week and the beginning of this week.
Time for my late tea and a glass of wine. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
