Spent the evening working on my wage bill etc.
Trying to do the PAYE etc
So panic sets in as I have now already got a bill of nearly £700 for tax and Ni, so I have over paid the staff as they are actually supposed to be taxed, and it seems that I have to also pay NI even for the lady who doesn't have to pay it her self!
This means I will really need to up the take or we won't be viable.
Growing too fast and not having enough cash flow would be awful.
So I will be analysing and juggling etc now more than ever.

Without being rude Mooloo I wonder if you have done the figures correctly?

The personal allowance this year is £10,600 - I can't believe any of your staff are earning over £203 per week because if they are you need to be taking a salary as well.

I don't think there is any tax due but there may be be NI to pay as the threshold is lower at £155 per week.

Also if you should have taxed them then as GlasweJen says you need to pay them a bit less each week/month until the tax has been paid.

Are you using Sage or another payroll system?

    They have pensions that's why.
    I'm using HMRC basic tools.
    They calculate it all.
Yes I will have to claw it back, but I am still responsible for my part of their national insurance ontop of theirs.
    I will budget accordingly now!
But with massive purchases this last month of patterns, haberdashery, and fabrics, it's a bit tight.
My own fault for not double checking their entitlements sooner!
    Won't let that slide anymore.
My wages will have to wait a bit longer.
But I'm hoping that the next large purchase is one paid for by the sale of the stuff purchased this month!
I'm as usual tired now. So think it's time together ready for bed.

I'm not sure at what age people don't have to pay NI any more, but you saying they have pensions makes me wonder whether that's worth double checking.

HMRC used to have a helpline for new employers, it might be worth giving them a call.

I have filled the forms in with all the correct details, for those who are over 65 ( two of them are), it doesn't deduct NI from them, it takes tax off them even with their tax codes. ( well one has a good pension so her tax is on all her earnings, and the other comes up at £1.40 on her money but employers NI, comes up for all of them for my liability to pay.
I confess I had not budgeted for that.
I will have to claw back what has been overpaid, and direct it back to HMRC, and from now on every weekend I will sort out the pay slips ( detail on A4 print out), before I pay them.
The price of success! (Or failure!), is in the detail.

The fabric arrived yesterday, and has been photographed and is on my Facebook page for Mooloo's, and has had a couple of questions and it looks like the Elephant printed cotton is going to sell anyway.
My second top up of pins, needles etc has arrived, and replacement patterns from those sold have also arrived.
The shop is well stocked now.
The jobs are still coming in, we are up to 164 of the second 1000, and several small jobs were done on the spot so no tickets produced, and some jobs are huge soft furnishing ones.
I have dresses, trousers and now a trouser suit to make in the next two weeks that also are not part og the ticket system.
So I better get on and get to work. The paperwork will have to be worked on again tonight. But at least all staff are now on the PAYE and all will be paid through the bank by BACS.
All I can do now, is keep my eyes on the spending. So I can still pay the rent at the end of the month!

Mooloo, you shouldn't be paying employers NI, each employer gets an allowance of £2000 to use against the first £2000 of employer's NI that would otherwise be due. This was introduced in 2014/15 to encourage people to take on new workers.

Official details here, including how to claim (it is really easy - just a few clicks on the basic RTI software):

    Thanks.
    I have applied.
Busy day, over 25 new jobs in today. We are very very busy with weddings, prom dresses, and general alterations for Ladies Day at Ascot, and school name tapes.
That should get the till ringing next week, even though it's still ringing, it will be a good boost after the bills etc of expanding.

Taking the day off. To take my Mum shopping, change her bedding, and Hoover upstairs etc for her.
I can do my food shopping in Aldi at the same time.
This afternoon I'm afraid that I will be doing my own blitz as the fleas are still about. Dispite the treatment saying it would last 12 months!
My itching is not improving either. The red rash is now all around my torso, and up behind my left ear.
Will have to just pop into work at some stage as I bought home a small job, sewing on name tapes, which I did while watching the TV. So they need to go back into the shop.
    Have a good day people.

Mooloo - it is possible that you have brought the fleas into the shop/home with some of the clothes that you have had donated/bought.

I'm thinking particularly of the things that you got from your cat lady ...might be worth spraying anything that comes in with the Indorex spray - because flea eggs can remain dormant for years until they come into an area which will end their dormancy.

Possibly. Haven't seen any at the shop, but I will treat shop at the weekend as well just incase.
Stopped at work to drop off the sewing I had zone last night, and got way layed with a dress fitting, as customer was rattling at the door.
I must make a screen for the window somehow.
Then as staff arrived customers piled in, but I did now out as I was late to get my Mum.
Took her to Aldi. She was amazed at the prices, and she aso bought a small cabin bag to take to France when she flys over end of July, to see my Brother in France.
Biggest of Mooloo's arrived, so after I'd changed the beds, I left them too it, to come home have a bite to eat and then attach DGDs room.
We have moved furniture, vaccumed beds, turned matteresses, emptied toy boxes etc and cleaned and sprayed. Done most of the house, but I have run out of energy and my itching is horrendous.
I shall have a bath, cream me up and try and get some relief.
Tomorrow wil be busy at work, as so much came in.
Friday I have to duck out again to take Mum to collect a sewing machine, embroidery machine we have bought for her, from my old boss. (They never replaced me).
So I will be sewing overtime on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, till I am caught up. Need to get the jobs done, paid for and the money in my bank!
    Now for that bath!
