    Hello Sea Otter and GP! I am definitely going to nab that recipe for savoury flapjacks. Looks just the thing for a burst of energy when on a country hike!

    Boo to rude shopkeepers!

    Is there anything more deadly than teenagers in the throes of GCSE revision and exams? I love him dearly, but....

    Popped on here for an oasis of calm and saw your last night's supper which was the very essence of what was required - soothing both to look at and I imagine to eat. Thank you.

    Good Evening :hello:

    Hey wishus - long time no see :hello: I think the savoury flapjacks are great, and really itching to be adapted in any taste direction you want :D Certainly a keeper recipe for me :D

    joeyjimbles - Ach exams! Societal structures put such pressure on our young people. Will half-term offer any respite - or do the exams extend well into June? I seem to remember that a nephew finished on the 4th June, last year, but I suppose different exam boards have different dates, plus subject choice plays its part. Glad I could provide an oasis of calm :D I'm a cure for insomnia wif me wittering as well :D Fame, fame at last I tell Ye! :rotfl: Actually, the pasta sauce was very comforting - zesty but creamy - and all good stuff from the lemon vit c, the avocado vit e, the miso vit k, the sesame calcium........... :D I hope that your *examwearyteen* achieves his best at all times and comes through these next few weeks of trials and tribulations.

    Today has been very Tuesdayish. Nothing of any great significance to report. I only bought the TV guide. I also returned my library book.... which reminds me - mcculloch - I got the *new* Ms Monroe book from the library. Mmmmmm, didn't find as much in it as her first....... I had had a bash at making the banana, chickpea and tea curry off the blog, last year, and I couldn't get on with it. I know what the aim was, but my sainsbugs basics t-bags obvs didn't do the necessary, as it was one of the rankest things I've ever eaten :( I might have a go at the banana loaf, but other than that, nothing really caught my eye. Still, that's not a criticism of the book. It was quite a comprehensive cookery book for someone looking to expand their repertoire, or who was new to cooking. Just nothing for me. Nice pics of Jack though.

    So. Apparently household finances are supposed to benefit from negative inflation. Do you feel any richer tonight? Me neither :( We were back to Tuesday night is Soup& :j And so we tucked into Ms Monroe's Feisty Soup and I made some flatbreads to accompany. I plopped some yoghurt in the flatbread mix - seems to make them quite soft :D There were also black onion seeds in the mix. Pic here;

    We have had 4 seasons in one day today. How's the weather been with you? I haven't caught up with today's Chelsea coverage - hope rain didn't spoil it for everyone there.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    Public libraries

    cheap and cheerful soups&

    that my boots don't leak :D

    Thanks for popping in, reading and commenting. Mucho appreciated. I'm away to bedfordshire, i'm p00ped again :(

    See y'all later.

    Thanks to the wonderful Heidi over at 101 Cookbooks, I have just read an interview between Om Malik and Bruno Cucinelli.

    Wow.

    What if every employer was as enlightened as Mr Cucinelli? What a different place the world would be. What a difference treating each other with dignity makes. I really don't want to live in a world where, on departing the train, you have to be informed, 'Mind out for the wall'......... *sigh*

    :hello: Hello back, GP! I've been popping in and out, lurking quietly, but have recently decided my energies for debt-busting need a recharge, so I've joined a few threads here. It's better for my sanity than anything on Facebook or Twitter, so long as I don't stray into news-reaction threads. :eek:

    It seems my library network has 2 Jack Monroe books in the system, but none are anywhere near me. I could cycle over to he nearest on Saturday (and then might not be able to find it!:rotfl:) Shame, because I'd love a look. Mind, they've always got plenty of others - as have we! :p Mostly using Weight Watcher recipes and the like at the mo, anyhoo!

    They do inter-library transfers for £1.20 round our way. I'll do it if there's something I need to read, say for a book club, as it's cheaper than buying.
