    Good Morning :hello:

    joeyjimbles - agree about day old curry, although there was none of this one left over :D The mushrooms did shrink down to not alot, despite starting out at 350g, so it made a portion each for DH and I. There was some lentil dhal left over though, which is great, as the flavour develops and it is handy to have on hand in the freezer for the next curry night, relieves the cooking work a bit :D

    Fortune! Howdy! :D I did indeed win the 'bake orf' :D and the raffle, and the tombola, and the best in show :D:D:D How you doing hun? Is it this year that you have the important family wedding? Hope your guiding work is going well and that the weather is not hampering your efforts. Lovely to *see* you, ta for dropping in :D

    Well, least said about the football. DH says that Mr Hodgson has resigned. Bit of a foregone, especially since his contract was up just now, but I do feel that the players let him down. After all, before the game, they were all saying that they had to move quickly on the ball, and take the game to Iceland. Well, did they? And as for our goalie.... Mr Hart, tusk, tusk.

    As has been said elsewhere, COME ON WALES! (shouting intentional! :D)

    tea last night was pasta, but with a made up sauce using pureed beans and red peppers mixed with yoghurt. It worked quite well. There was onion, garlic, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, spinach and black olives in with the pasta/sauce too. I think that it would have been better to have just had the sauce with the pasta, or the vegetables with the pasta, but it was 'made up' and first time through, so it was an 'experiment' :D The spinach was 'fresh' (rather than frozen, for a change) and just wilted in the heat of the cooked pasta.

    I've no idea what's on the menu for this evening. Better get creative again I guess :rotfl:

    Thanks everso for popping by, reading and commenting. Always appreciated. Always.

    Good Evening :hello:

    My, doesn't time fly when you are having fun?

    We have been keeping out of mischief, out of the rain and outdoors when the sun shone again :D

    Baby Greying has continued to provide 'free' TV :D I know all parents say this - but the changes, on a daily basis! So many new things, so many differences to notice....... Growing up really fast :D:(

    joeyjimbles - I have been keeping my eye out to see if our h0me barg1ns has that powdered coconut in. No luck as yet, but I keep looking :D

    I did spot a bargain in h3ron f00ds today, 69p for a 225g block of paneer (Savera brand). That is at least half price :D I have used one block tonight for 'us tea' and I will be using the other 2 I bought to make saag paneer on a 'Saturday is Strictly curry night'. mcculloch - I have posted about it on your HF thread :D

    So tea this evening was a buddha bowl, using a block of the paneer. I fried the paneer in slices, put it over some lentil dhal and steamed spinach on top of boiled rice. i then topped it with a sauce that was heavily based on this khurchan paneer recipe It was topped with some nigella seeds.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    - free gifts (useful) for BG :D

    - that BG is healthy and developing apace....... :D

    - for barginacious paneer - haven't had any for ages :D

    Thank you for popping in and reading. It is greatly appreciated.

    Love paneer - I did it last Saturday with some that I picked up in Aldee - wasn't that cheap but was 30% off. I froze another block - experimentally - so I'll see how that has done in a couple of weeks time.
    Local HB still has coconut powder but only a couple of boxes left (well there's only one left now!). Our Bee&Em has 4 tiny tins for £1 which isn't exactly cheap but I find the 165ml size quite useful.
    Cinema and tea out tonight (Nectar deal gifted by MiL) so night off for me.

    Good Morning :hello:

    Well, what a scintillating game of footy THAT was :D Very well done Wales :D And thank you to all involved for doing yourselves proud, Wales proud and the game of footy proud :D Brilliant :D Chr1s C0leman was right, they did deserve it :D

    Cheery - paneer is C.H.E.E.S.E - how come you've never thought to buy it????? :rotfl: I know I can get it in bigger packs when I go to the asian supermarket, but I don't get there as often as I would like. This is an OK substitute.

    joeyjimbles - I wondered about freezing too! According to my freezer book, you can freeze soft cheese. I just assume that the texture would alter. I suspect it would be a bit softer when defrosted, and might it toughen up quicker when you cook it do you think? I think it will be fine, and wish I'd got more to freeze it myself..... and on that note:

    The following is a public-service announcement on behalf of the 0ffis of household Budgietarry responsibility - (Greying Towers Division):

    A note to all the luverly MSE'rs. When Greying Pilgrim tells y'all about all the lush bargains to be had for budget concious types, in h3ron F00ds; the object of excercise is for MSE's to visit their *own* local store and fill their boots with bargains. It is not a requirement for MSE'rs to jump on a charabanc and haste over to Greying's local store and hoover up all the bargains!........ Just saying........ End of missive.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    I couldn't believe it when I went in there yesterday - there wasn't even a space where the paneer had been! And you hoovered up all me favourite *give mumma a break* oven chips too! What are you like?? :rotfl: Anyway, I did the *next one down* with oven chips - 89p for 850g. Not so barginacious :( But they cooked ok and tasted fine. They were an accompaniment to a cheese and tommy pizza - no pic, as I'm sure you know what my cheese & tommy pizza look like and the footy was just about to start ;)

    Today will be a chore-fest. Although we spent breakfast watching baby TV. You've got to - so many changes each day. It is actually quite scary. We've been getting older on a daily basis for years, but not actually noticed. Watching a little person grow and develop brings the passing days into sharp focus! Unless you're on a sleep-deprived day, when everything is a blur... oh, wait........ :rotfl:

    Tonight will hopefully be curry night. I COULD make saag paneer, but I don't think I will. The paneer is good until at least half way through the month, so I'll pick something else off the list I think.

    Right, I best go and cuddle baby :D

    Greying, thank you for contributing to my Heron thread. Heron saves me and my RL friends so much money that I feel sad that more here don't seem to use it. Although perhaps many have the wrong perception of the shop. To me it's the place I find the completely unexpected, those luxury and sometimes offbeat variations that I normally wouldn't try.
    If a relatively new product appears on the shelves in Heron it's a safe bet that the launch has failed, snap it up, because it won't be around for much longer!
    I haven't been in my Heron for a week or two, been running down stores and getting inventive. I made my own hot chocolate mix out of some whey powder I was sent to review, slightly OOD cocoa, icing sugar, and a wallop of coffee whitener, having read the list of ingredients on the jar.
    My hot chocolate is usually added to my morning lungo for a mocha. Lovely start to the day. It gets me out of bed in happy anticipation.

    Ta for mentioning the footy. It flashed up on the screen earlier. "Euro 2016 semi final Wales vs Portugal' . It's like a beautiful dream, I've always followed Welsh footy, as one of my best friends in Cardiff when I was young was from a footy mad family.
    One of her brothers married the next door neighbour of one of Wales' most famous players' parents and we always joked that was a key attraction.
    Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    Good Evening :hello:

    A quick dash in from me, as I need me bed.......

    Aw, gutted for Wales, but my goodness, what a match and how well played - AND the team played for 90 minutes, they never threw in the towel - BRAVO. Loved that the anthem was still ringing out at 87 minutes too - true sporting behaviour, on and off the pitch.

    Well done Andy Murray :T I only saw a few minutes of the game, but Jo-Wilfred is never a push over, so very well played :T

    We tried to support from afar, by having curry with 'half&half', but clearly it wasn't enough :( I made Anna Jones' Beetroot Curry with spiked cottage cheese - with a few alternations. Ie I didn't bother 'spiking' the cottage cheese (YS'd from m&$), just dolloped it on at the end. And I didn't bother with the coconut in the curry. I hadn't got any dessicated coconut and I omitted the coconut milk, purely on the basis we were having chips with it, so that was sufficient calories..... Have to say, nice curry :D First time I've made that recipe (made beetroot curry before), but will definitely do it again, with the coconut next time.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    - time for a little creativity (Baby Greying had a big long nap :D)

    - for sport played in the right spirit

    - for easy recipes - making mealtimes adventurous without being onerous :D

    Thank you for popping in, reading and commenting. I shall endeavour to make a better response when I can keep my eyes open for longer than 5 seconds!
