I keep missing the Rick Stein programme - must remember to watch on catch up - I thoroughly enjoyed the one last week. I've been so numbed by the repetitive commentary that seems to show that several experts don't know what is going to happen next nor when anything will happen or what it will be like when whatever it is has happened, so I've just not bothered watching since the results were in.
Curry tonight? Rick Stein's tarka dal, spinach and paneer curry and slow-cooker rice in this house. I have some poppadoms in the cupboard and there is a bit of chicken that could be made into tandoorish chicken if there is an anti-veg revolt.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

I like R1ck's presenting style - he never takes himself too seriously. And tries to be enthusiastic whatever he encounters, even if he doesn't like it - like stinky tofu in the Shanghai programme
I don't think Europe is the problem, and neither is it the solution. We live in a world, not a continent. Globalisation is here whether we like it or not. We've got to start seeing the big picture, where ever we are located. Globalisation is a issue for the UK whether we are in Europe or out of it - much the same as globalisation is an issue for every European country, irrespective of whether they are in the EU or not. The advantages of globalisation are there for exploitation - much as the disadvantages of globalisation are there to be dealt with. One thing is certain, change and uncertainty are here to stay -just as they always have been. Europe didn't *cause* all the perceived disadvantages that we've heard bandied about, much the same as it was never the panacea to each and every economic, social and welfare situation that it's citizens faced.
Do I know what the solution is? Do I heck as like. There is an awful lot of *grey* in life, it is never all definite or absolute. What works for one, won't work for another, and I have no clue how to make it so. I can only turn up and play my part and influence things in my circle of control.
Yes, hopefully curry tonight, I fancy going in a thai/coconutty & lime direction, but there's a few hours yet before 'tea time', so much could change

Best laid plans...... don't think we'll have curry for tea. I've not made anything yet, and tbh, I'm not sure I can be r$ed. We'll have picky bits - we've had a sanger each already
Curry night tomorrow night maybe. Early night, night tonight most likely

Watching the Wales v Northern Ireland game - wish they weren't playing each other at this stage, as one of them will have to go outStill, the first half was a good game of football, clipped along and some shots on goal.
Today I'm grateful for these 3 things;
- the offer of some hand-me-on things for BG
- for a trip out in the sunshine. Bills paid, little bit of shopping done. Chats with folk accomplished and vitamin D topped up.......
- for some unsolicited kind words from a *stranger*. Took me by surprise as to how much i needed to hear them...................
Thank you for popping in, reading and conversing. I remain grateful.

And you always have a kind word for us beanie, whatever trials and tribulations you are carrying on your shoulders. Thank you
So, cinnamon - it's a spice right? counts towards your 5 a day??????? The only good points about this is that it was only 99p (500ml tub) from h3ron f00ds, I shared and there is some left...........Norty really. Bit too sickly for me, but a nice treat - it was the cinnamon dough that was sickly, the ice-cream was nice.

I'm glad you found the avocados - and I hope they prove useful when you try them.
I'm also relieved to find you are human and don't always get round to creating the meals you plan! I'm busy eating (far too late) a random selection of stuff that won't last till I get back (cooked beetroot, cottage cheese, tomatoes and some bean and asparagus dip). Peas, lettuces and spinach are being turned into soup to freeze. Cooked chicken and half a tin of cannellini beans have been bunged in the freezer.
I still haven't packed. But then again, I haven't actually finished unpacking from last week. I have some banking to go before I go, some travel documents to print (to keep the Canadian border guards happy) and my suitcase to pack. All before midday.
Better get the last of the washing on, just in case there is something in there I need. And decide what I'm actually taking with me!0 -
Good afternoon :hello:
We've been out and about - we took a picnic lunch to a nearby(ish) NT property. We'd hoped to eat it in the kitchen garden, but the only bench that wasn't covered in bird p00oooooo was already takenso we sat in the rose garden instead. Which was a lovely setting, but by necessity, we half blocked one of the paths. Amazing how many people insisted on pushing past, when a half a step to the right would have led them onto a much wider path to the same destination....... we weren't trying to inconvenience people, and we didn't choose the location of the benches either - whoever did, obviously didn't actually want folk to stop and smell the roses........... *sigh* Still, we had a lovely couple of hours, and the vast majority of people gave us a wide-berth.......Greying surreptitiously sniffs armpits....... It wasn't heaving, by any means - it's not a particularly popular destination I don't think (not open for very long each week etc), and I've only just realised, nobody was talking about Brex.............:j
We called in at the supermercados on return. mrAl was heaving and looked like a plague of locusts had been through. Hope this is normal Sunday trading and not a portent of doooooooomWent to mrL and it was quiet as the grave
Have uploaded the latest batch of pics of Baby Greying. They wore their natty little charitee shop outfit again
Right i must vamoose to make curry, else it will never happen
See y'all in a bit.

Good Evening :hello:
I made curry for 'us tea' :j :rotfl:I heartily agree with greenbee - it is human to fail to complete tasks that we set ourselves, for a wide variety of reasons. But today, I was able to make curry and dhal from scratch, because I had a little bit of left over energy, and I knew that BG was in the safe hands of DHI'm sure BG knows those stories off by heart now...... :rotfl:
So, this here curryI still fancied something lime/coconutty, and because I picked up some closed cup mushrooms in mrL - 59p for 350g - I decided to go with Madhur Jaffrey's Kodovan Mushroom Curry (scroll down for recipe) and teamed it with lentil dhal and boiled rice. I overcooked the rice (too much water), but it was edible. I bought long grain rice, rather than basmati (on a bit of an economy drive
) and it shows......:( It was yummy though - albeit a bit brown........
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
- being able to afford a bit of diesel for a lovely trip out
- for the opportunity to watch, sniff and hear nature; close up
- for the reminder that life is for living
Thank you for popping by and reading. It is very much appreciated. By me
