Tomorrow I have to call the mortgage company and tell them I can't afford to pay them

I am struggling with a gambling addiction.

I was doing really well.

But on xmas day I got carried away. Drank too much. Gambled my whole month salary.

I am already 2 months in arrears on my mortgage and had agreed with them to pay it back over 6 montha from jan.

But now I can't even pay them the regular amount in January.

I'm sorry what a tough situation. Are you going to ga else maybe this is the rock bottom you need to start going. They can help you block yourself from sites I believe so you can't be tempted the same way.

Also might be worth talking to shelter and stepchange about the mortgage and debt itself as to what your options are.

first thing if u really want to stop google GA and get to a meeting

ring the morgage people u will be suprised how much help they can assist with

and good luck you can do it just as i have
  • Hi,

better to let them know the situation than ignore and hope it goes away.

    Good luck.
  • Newbie - thank you but this isn't the first time I have skipped a payment to them. In fact it's probably pay 2, skip one, pay a bit extra for a month or two, skip another
Surely their patience with ME will run out and they will now throw me out of my house in January

they will help you at the morgage company but yoou need to get to a GA meeting if you are ready for it and only you will know this
  • I hope they will give me one more try. I have £350 that I can give them (should be giving them £1900) to show that I want to pay
I'm dreading them just saying "nope. You had a chance. Deliver up your keys tomorrow."
