    Again on the 99p cables.

Never spent as little as that, but I find cheep cables to be vastly inferior on the terminal ends.

Paid £4 for a 90 degree 4m hdmi, and the plastic connector was incredibly brittle. in fact it snapped clean off just by me testing the flexibility.

Personally I would avoid even branded flexible ends (those that have a knuckle joint) paid good money for one and it only lasted 6 months before (I assume) there was a break in one of the joints.

IMO people can pay what they like for a cable.....If they are wealthy enough to pay silly prices and believe that what they are watching to be superior quality then, the money is theirs to waste..
Personally I've never paid more than £3 for a cable and I've never had one fail. Once it's put in place, I don't usually have any need to move it.

Thanks for that wongataa - looks like there are in fact 5 label standards (no version numbers) for HDMI cables. You'll not see these in Poundland, and I've never seen them anywhere...yet...

Well you are unlikely to ever see a HDMI cable with ethernet as there are no devices that support ethernet over HDMI and the automotive one is rather specialised. So that leaves the normal two in the wild - standard and high speed.

Yea i dont think there is a need to spend a great deal but it annoys me when people hand out rubbish advice like leeroy2009. He was so sure that the 99p cable is just as good as a £40 one....and that is total crap

Those 99p china cables are rubbish. Even the poundland ones are only 1 metre in length and thats useless most of the time. Plus i have had the connectors break on one of those as well......

I build pcs, I have 50in plasmas in my house, 24 inch led monitors etc etc etc etc, sky hd etc etc

I use the cheapest hdmi cables from ebay, and have never ever had a problem, using a 10m hdmi cable for long run (yes slightly more then 99p)

people do no need to spend silly money on hdmi cables, I stand by my point a 99p cable is just as good as a £30+ cable, connectors break off? I have never came across this before, neither in my house, or the countless friends and familys I have fitted hdmi gear for

So, does a $10 HDMI cable make your system look or sound different from a $100 or $1000 cable? The short answer is “Absolutely not.”

OK there IS such a thing as a poor HDMI cable, or one that's not up to the job. It might be a thing of the past these days, but I have personally experienced handshake problems, snow, and blank screens, on cables that weren't up to spec.
Note, I didn't mention price anywhere.
Point being - all HDMI cables are NOT created equal, but fortunately, these days, most will do the job as perfectly as the other.
