HDMI Cables

After receiving some Blu Ray films for Xmas, I am about to take the plunge and buy a Blu Ray player, so I can watch them. I have been meaning to get one for sometime and just kept putting it off, so getting the films has finally given me the push I needed.
So I have been looking and am going to get one that plays 3D films, as we have a 3D TV. Some of the sites I have looked at are saying you need a 3D HDMI cable?? Is this true?? Or can I just use the existing HDMI??
Thanks in advance

Or they work in PC World and they think that £45 is a reasonable price to charge for a 99p cable....0 -
This is pretty much what I have always understood but as Blu Ray and 3D TV is a new world for me, I wanted to check with you guys on here before being conned into buying something not needed!!!
I knew it didn't matter with standard HDMI from box to TV and thought it might be the same with 3D but like I said it is always worth checking on here first.
I would be lost without the help from this forum sometimes. So thanks to everyone for their continued help!:T0 -
whilst on this subject (hdmi) , I wonder is anyone can assist me?
I bought a intel NUC to use as a media device for my TV , using openelec. however my main computer has now packed in , so I comandeared it , and installed win 8.1 , with a hdmi to VGA adaptor .
Its set with an external drive with a stand alone openelec on it , pressing the bios key f10 takes me to USB boot.
at this point I need a HDMI splitter , 1 imput , 2 outputs (one to PC and 1 to TV) , most switches (ebay / amazon) are the opposite , 2 different imputs 1 out ,
this will save me swopping the cable after every reboot.
the intel NUC cannot enter the bios (cant see it) on a TV screen unless its a high quality 1080 one , you have to enter the bios via a VGA adaptor.
so to simplify , 1 in , 2 out (cheep!!!)0 -
your welcome simon
and enfield, not sure if you would run in to difficulties, if screen res and refresh rate was different on the screens?

If you only want to view one output at a time, a passive one would work, and they tend to be much cheaper.0 -
Sorry Enfield Freddy, as much as I would like to help, it has all just gone straight over my head...........0

Poundland have some very good HDMI leads for .... £1.
The £40-£50-£60 leads sold by Currys are no better or worse."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

I want to make it so that a computer , with a HDMI port can display both to the PC and the TV , with or without a switch , and as cheap as possible.
NOTE: I will NOT buy from any ebay/amazon suppliers based in china/hong kong,0
