Downside , if you can import for a price then so can your competition
Your margins may vanish overnight
I understand what you mean. Many eBay and Amazon sellers sell the products with the same generic brand name and package. It might be hard to compete with them as they have been in the game for a long period. Possibly they even have cheaper suppliers than those a beginner will find. The beginner is likely to end up with a supplier that is a middleman, which will make the unit price more expensive. But there's always the option to brand the product yourself and give it a nice package. This will make it stand out from the competitors.
Looking to kick-off a side-project of importing products from China via AliExpress. The category would be Toys (best described as Minifig type toys suitable for 3 years+)
QQ... I have contacted a few manufacturers and only some are able to provide assurance around the CE Marking and standards
How is best to approach this as it is quite confusing. So I'm led to believe from plenty of reading, there is a way to self-certify (i.e. the EN71 has a self-assessment questionnaire) to perform QC yourself once you have goods in position
Related, how would you go about getting insurance? Seems difficult based on the import from China approach
