The_Only_Girl wrote: »Hello, me again. Just came back from my yellow sticker shopping and I couldn't be more pleased with what I've got. I bought 47 items in total for a humble amount of £9.98. These include 2 bouquets of flowers for 20p each (dropped one bouquet off to my bff's house), a chocolate cake (mega-malty chocolate factory ultimate cupcake) for £1, cod fillet, smoked salmon pate, spicy potato wedges, donuts, ciabattas, single cream, lots and lots of bread, pastries, cookies, chicken curry, fruits, vegetables and I can't remember what else all for 5p a pack. Total of 8 carrier bags!!! The full price would have been £47.30, giving me a savings of £37.42. It is highly addictive and makes me feel slightly guilty (I feel like I'm robbing the shop). . To make me feel less guilty i bought THREE full priced items eg bananas and 2 packs of couscous for 50p each That's not all -- I paid for them in 3 batches so 3 receipts uploaded on check out smart for 5p a receipt. Will get a cash back of £1.85 for the Coke Life as well. Oh to be debt free.
Hubby came home from work with his first ever womble. A £5 in the scrub suit he wore today on duty. Went straight to the emergency fund tin.
Wow that is the best haul I've ever heard of!! Congratulations :T
Now, do you take the view that it's just money saved or transfer the actual amount it would have cost to the CC debt because it's a zero spend?? Food for thought. Can see both arguments." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

If this month isn't as tight as I fear it would be, I would transfer the amount saved £37.42 to my credit card straight away. I would wait til the end of the month to find out how much left over money I would have from the groceries budget and transfer that amount to the credit card, as I normally do every month. Some may argue that it is not very MSE to buy some of the ys things I bought because they are not necessarily basic needs ie flowers, cakes, etc. I bought them because they cost almost nothing and I would not have bought them if they were full price. But as they are very cheap, we use them all and never waste anything. What we cannot eat straight away are frozen. The kids seem to eat us out of our house while the school is out so it doesn't hurt to give them ys items from the freezer. That's my personal opinion based on my personal financial circumstances."There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150

3 receipts uploaded today for 15p of which 2 were wombled. I also picked up a few more so will upload those tomorrow.
I noticed that I have now received 11 x 5p on CoS when it only says you are allowed 10, so will wait and see if the 11th gets revoked.LBM: Dec 2012 - Debt £38,180/ Now £0.

Please explain yellow sticker shopping. I assume it's reduced items, but I never see anything reduced so much! So what's the secret? Is it a particular supermarket? Is it a special time of day?

It is exactly that. This site uses the term YS for anything that is reduced. Its just part of the lingo:D
Different people will say different things about when to go. Most shops will do various rounds of deep discounting on items that are almost out of date. Generally they will start this around 4pm on a normal day, although sundays as an early close is different. By around 7pm the items will be very low. You can generally get bread for around 40p per loaf, & up to £1 off on meat.
However, if you get really lucky and figure out when they do their absolute final cut before it goes into the bin, you can get food for pennies, as The Only Girl demonstrated above. If it were me, I'd just pick my nearest store & start keeping a really close eye. I probably dont buy very much full price these days for the reason of buying YS and then freezing it till I can use it." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Bob and The Only Girl - I salute you. Fabulous wombling :T
Found a 5p coin just outside our driveway gates this morning, received a refund on my car insurance due to our move of £89.17, plus a cheque for £28.77 refund from house insurance due to moving and foraged a punnet of blackberries from the thicket in my orchard.
Still amazed at your bargains ladies - I live miles from a supermarket now so YS items are rare luxury these days lol0 -
Sounds a pretty good day yourself Dizzy. Nice fat cheque there" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
