Samsung Cancelled Repair - What does this mean?

So why not change the wifi channel to something else on the Homehub? For example I have my 2.4GHz wifi on Channel 11 and my 5GHz on Channel 44.
Use inSSIDer to find out what 2.4 and 5GHz channels are quiet in your area.
I will ask Samsung that very question, thanks for that...makes sense.
Very helpful.0 -
I'm not sure you're understanding ... the Homehub is in your home, so you need to check the channels (and change if necessary).
Its in my home is it? That is where I`m going wrong! :rotfl:
I will ask Samsung if changing the channel number on the 5GHz band would resolve the problem as you have suggested.0 -
Have you checked which channel your Homehub is currently using? If yes, what is it?0

Had this issue on US laptops, and laptops with wifi components designed for US market. In the US, wifi channels 1-11 are the only ones civilian and commercial devices are permitted to use. In Europe we use up to channel 13.
If the OP's homehub is using 12 or 13 his US chromebook will never be able to access it, as is the suspicion on here.0 -
OP is using the 5GHz frequency, so could be 36-60 or 100-161 (ish) in the UK. But you're right - USA wifi cards also have restrictions in the 5GHz range as well as the 2.4 GHz range.

I had a similar issue a few years ago with my company laptop ... I had set my home wifi to channel 13 but my work laptop couldn't connect due to it using USA-compliant wifi components.0 -
How do you check WiFi channel settings and those being used ?
Do these settings affect how good a WiFi connection you get ?
Is this automatic or can you adjust settings ?0 -

Why would you ask Samsung?
If they knew it would fix it,no doubt they would tell you.
When the Chromebook is back, try it.
Simple test for me would be to try it on other wifi set ups.

I have just checked and the 5GHz band is set to Channel 48, which is obviously out of range of the USA compliant wifi components.
I will speak to Samsung later today when they phone and see if the agree that the Channel numbers on the home network hub are the cause of the problem.
Thanks very much, this is very helpful.:T0
