  • freespirit - the wall looks lovely and I love your fireplace! Well done, you should be very proud of yourself :j

Ok is it really sad that I'm looking forward to this weekend because me & OH are finally going to have a big clear out to try and get rid of lots of the stuff we've just had hanging around the house for ages and also going to take some furniture apart that is really just a waste of space because it's not being used and gets in the way? I think I need to get a life!! :rotfl:

I've got some parcels to pick up from the post office later today and also got some returns to make, so lets hope the post office isn't too busy!

I ordered a few gifts off notonthehighstreet last night. I ordered a frame with some song lyrics in for my OH and also a gift set of 5 cocktails in cute jars, also for OH. Hopefully they should arrive soon and I can get them wrapped and put away.

I really need to get on with my wrapping now as there's so much to wrap!!

Love the wall and fireplace Freespirit, and well done on the clear out .

Well done on the job funny bunny, sounds good.

I went on to the Argos site to get the 25% off (advert on telly) but it's another 3 for 2 for a few days. Finding it hard trying to get 3 things in the same store though.

    Good morning everyone!
I've got myself a little Xmas temp job with royal mail. It's data entry so all the county's on the envelopes that are illegible for the computer I have to manually type it in. Really boring but it's 6-10pm so no childcare needed and a bit of extra pennies!
Got some bargains yesterday at the local Nike factory store. Trainers for my son were £30 each reduced to half price then an extra 70% off the lowest sticker price!! So £4.50 each well chuffed with them.
Also I nipped into Lidl this morning as it's a stone throw away from me and picked up the Christmas magazine on the way out. Inside was some coupons for 50% off Favorina Panettone classico, 50% off Deluxe 12 macaroons. 25% off Deluxe Long Clawson Blue Stilton and 25% off Deluxe with Love Five Bird Roast all expire 6/12/15. Hope they help someone as some good bargains.
35 days to go! This time in 5 weeks will be Christmas day!!! Arrrggghh best get my finger out!!

I did that exact same job years ago - same shift in the MDEC! I was at Stockport, there's a few around the country, but its good pay and easy work.

You might find you're kept on after christmas.
  • Love the wallpaper and fireplace.
Christmas work to bring in extra Pennines sounds good at any time of year but especially welcome at Christmas
Got to search my fabric stash for white, I need to make choirboys ruffs for the school play.
Started practicing songs today so it's definately on its way.

    Hope all are well

Evening everyone :) We've got snow here :D

Been busy busy busy this week here. Have started wrapping up the gifts we have so far, and bought a few others.

Picked up a load of mini figures for DS in the Argos 3 for 2 today. Just a few sweets for his stocking and that's him done, apart from the one last gift I pick up in December for them.

My Studio order arrived today, with some bits and bobs I needed for various charity things etc so the Post Pals gifts are finished. I've just to wrap up the wee bits from that and find something to post them in.

Boots have their Jack Wills large gift sets on offer this week for £25 down from £50. Picked 2 each of those up for 2 nieces and nephews so that's them done.

Oh and I discovered the Smooth Christmas radio station again on Sunday, so we've had that on all week :D
Off for a long bath now as I'm not feeling too great. Early night tonight and hoping to get loads more done tomorrow

  • Freespirit The wall looks great. :)

Not done much in the way of Christmas prep but I'm just giving money to the kids so I'll just need to collect £5 notes and then buy some sweets to go with the money - sweets are plentiful so I'm not buying them too far in advance! :D

0462(sorry I can never get more than the first four numbers without forgetting lol) the hospital kit is a brilliant idea and I bet is very much appreciated.

Free the wallpapering is a fabulous achievement - well done to you and DD. Just shows that you can do so much more than you know - I think you should def be big chief proudface now ;)
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
  • Thank-you all for your support over my "rant". We are feeling much better about the whole situation today, and dd2 has announced that she still believes in Santa, even though she knows he " might not" be real - that's good enough for me, so its full steam ahead with some extra Santa magic plans!

Free - the wallpaper & fireplace look fab!

Can I ask peoples opinion on buying for older children. Dd1 turns 16 next year, and dh thinks this should be our last year spending so much on her, to prepare her for adult hood, encourage her to want to earn herself etc. I'm not sure I agree with him.

At what age did you / do you intend, to stop splashing out on your kids? She will be getting a ps4 & huge party for her birthday next October, so I'm happy to cut back on her spend next Christmas, but not sure it should be a permanent thing. TIA x
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.
  • Sorry for multiple posts, but in my search to make Santa "real" I found a free app called kringl which allows you to put Santa in your front room!

Already done a sample video, looks great. Can't wait to get the tree up now & do the real thing xx
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.
  • Well, slowly but surely getting through the mountain of wrapping to be done, so reasonably happy on that score. Anyone else find it annoying that the big pile you had grows because of the wrapping. Thought I might be able to get some tidying done at the same time, but that is not working :(

However, I am managing to sort out stuff for the cs, it is amazing how much unnecessary stuff you accumulate.

Ordered myself a new toy last night, a tumble drier! Being delivered tomorrow, will be texted at 7am to give me my 4hour slot. I refused to pay almost £30 to choose my slot in advance. Hopefully, I will get it reasonably early, but it will be so nice not having to stress about getting the clothes dry. Was saying to my mum the other night that I was thinking of buying one and she told me she would be lost without hers, best bill she pays. Until I pointed out that she gets free electricity so it doesn't actually cost her anything!!!
Have quickly had a read of everyone's news, but forgot to note who said what, so congrats on new job, decorating, moving home. Hugs for those having a tough time. And for those who don't believe in Santa, well how else do you get unavailable, much wanted toy etc?
A smile costs little but creates much :)
