  • Hi everyone, I have just caught up after a few days so apologies in the advance for my long post!

feisty CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! :j:beer::T That is truly the best news!! I couldn't be happier for you! I know you are still apprehensive so I won't get too carried away but you guys deserve this more than anything. I hope with all my might that the sonographer is right and that your little one is ok. Will be keeping everything possible crossed for you. At the other end of the spectrum I am really sorry to hear about your nan, I am sure you will miss her loads but how lovely that you go to spend time with her and she made her way out with Frank! Funnily enough when my SiL was pregnant with our nephew one of my OH's grandparents died, then when I was pregnant another of his grandparents died, almost like they were making way for the new life. I'm sorry if that sounds insensitive, I don't mean it to be! I'm also really glad that your house is turning into a positive and it sounds like it will be a lovely family home. xx

aliaslotte hello again! You are doing so well, that must make you feel relieved when money is tight, it's reassuring isn't it? You've got some amazing bargains, I can't believe you got some of it so cheap! Well done.

quidsy where did you get the Christmassy popcorn holders from? They sound great!

freespirit thanks for heads up about the new Yankee flavours. DH bough me a MASSIVE Christmas Yankee candle that I didn't get around to using last year (as I was using others!) so I don't have an excuse to buy any this year! Ah you must be gutted about the juicer, I've done things like that before, you just don't know sometimes if something will ever come in useful. We'd keep everything otherwise! Your table presents sound like a great idea, I love M&M's! What ideas did you find to wrap scratchcards? Or was it the M&M idea? Good luck with Slimming World!

kaya So sorry to hear about Truffles. :( Also sorry to hear you've had trouble with your eyes, I can't believe that nurse questioned you! Even I know that and i'm not a nurse! We too have decorations from our travels, I really like it. Although if we keep doing it we'll have to get another tree, ah shucks... :p

linz I hope the HV has helped, I found mine really useful at times.

CHRISSYG wow what an amazing holiday for your daughter! She has been through so much and definitely deserves it. What kind of things are you thinking of putting in the holiday hamper?

pinknfluffy you are not being selfish at all, you need to do what is right for you and your family. I think what you are doing is a good idea even if it ruffles feathers. You never know, it might make them think about how little they come to you.

Peppapig I love the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special! It always makes me feel so Chritmassy. I don't tend to let myself watch any films until November as I don't want to peak too soon, but I do indulge in the odd Christmas special!

mrsinvisible welcome back! I hope you had a fabulous time in China and that your family are all well.

Karrie congrats on the birth of baby Oscar! I am in awe of you, I had my son around the same time and definitely didn't have the head space for buying Christmas presents in the first 10 days! I didn't know what my name was half the time! :p

betterlife hello and welcome! You sound really organised, it's people like you who are inspiring me to get cracking on with my own preparations. Keep up the good work!

I have added another present to the pile, I got my mum a nightshirt in the M&S sale. It's just the style she likes and is lovely and super-soft. I have planned a lot of things I want to buy for people and have a 'to buy' list, and I thought I might make life easier and get a few things online - however after scanning the list most of it I need to go to the shops for! That isn't a problem really, but I want to get cracking but have to wait for a suitable time to go shopping. I'm experiencing festive impatience! :p

Saw this on the Bay of Fleas last night if anyone is thinking of doing little token gifts. Mind you, I think a single mini cane is stretching the meaning of token! I was thing of getting little Santa trousers, and putting in 1 or 2, with maybe lip salve and other little things like that.

Thanks for sharing these. feisty said she used candy canes to adorn wrapped parcels last year and I love the sound of this, so thinking these could be useful for the smaller presents.

PRINCESSKITTY im going to hide the scratchcard in the middle of the m&ms inside a kitchen roll/toilet roll middle then it is all hidden from the outside, pretty much what i did with the nieces and nephews last christmas hiding their money inside

Ah yes I think I've seen this on Pinterest, great idea! Can we not get festive coloured M&M's over here? I must say I've never seen them.

Feisty Big congratulations to you & OH! I'm so happy for you. :)

Thank you all for your very kind words, they have made me feel very loved :)

Princesskitty, it isn't insensitive at all. Most of my family have said the same thing about the baby and Nan passing x

Free your table decorations sound ace! I'd love to do something like that, but certain members of my family are so germ phobic they'd pitch fit at the thought of toilet rolls touching the sweets! I guess I could use trimmed kitchen rolls, now there's an idea!

I think Nan's passing finally hit me yesterday. I've been so weepy that I've had to tell work I won't be in next week and I got sent home early today. I would have preferred this week as compassionate leave, but one girl is on holiday so sadly not possible. The funeral will be on Tuesday which I am dreading as in some way it feels too soon (we had to wait almost 3 weeks to bury Mr Feisty's Nan earlier this year). It also seems too real and final, like I'm saying my final goodbyes, which I know is silly.

Evening everyone, i have just been checking out the John Lewis christmas shop, although it isnt open yet there are some lovely things on there, still ploughing through the 400 pages on amazon though getting a bit bored now :rotfl:

PRINCESSKITTY i dont know for sure but i spent the whole of december searching and saying to the kids look out for christmas colour m&ms whereever they went :rotfl:and i couldnt find any, anywhere, even the shops that sell american sweets never had any

LIZZIEB oh thankyou my lovely, i just want to sit and look at christmas for an afternoon haha

FEISTY heehee :rotfl::rotfl:you actually cover the toilet rolls/kitchen rolls in wrapping paper first (though if they are that germ phobic it wouldnt make any difference but at least they wouldnt see straightaway what it is. It has probably just hit you because of all you have going on atm plus your hormones will be raging, give yourself some downtime to grieve your nan properly, the house will still be there when you are ready to tackle it

  • freespirit well they will have to be a special purchase from New York! There's an M&M world in London but that's a bit of a trip just to buy a bag of M&M's! :p

feisty as freespirit says you need to give yourself time to grieve. A funeral is always difficult and feels final but you'll always have lots of wonderful memories with you. Of course the main reason you are weepy is the passing of your Nan, but remember your hormones will be going crazy too. I cried at The Day After Tomorrow when I was pregnant - when they found lots of people alive after the storm! :p You were really close to your Nan so you are bound to be very upset, be kind to yourself. xx

We're off to Richmond for the day today, DH and I used to live there when we first got together so it will be funny going back, life has changed so much since then! I'm going to try to find a Christmas present when i'm there, my Mum says my Dad likes the Old Spice deodorant sticks but can't find them anywhere, I had a look online and apparently Boots sell them so i'll try to have a look today. Hopefully i'll find them and that'll be another present in the bag! x

    Feisty -MASSIVE congratulations.

Princesskitty - Her hamper so far has sun cream ,after sun ,toiletries, sunglasses and it did have a guide book but she had a fit and is a little battered so I gave her that to cheer her up. I am stumped at what else to put on there having never been on a cruise .
