Feisty, sorry to hear that your Nan has passed. Glad your in-laws are supportive and you have something to look forward to with your new home.
Sarah, do you have any birthdays during this few months or perhaps charity donations, early Christmas lucky dips that you could use the chocolates for? Maybe someone else could take them off your hands if they need gifts for birthdays etc and pay you the reduced rate?0 -
Feisty, just popping on to say so sorry to hear about your nan but so glad you got to see her. Love that she had the music playing, she sounds a character and she obviously did a good job with you. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0

Feisty - Sending virtual hugs and deepest condolences to you and your family xx
MrsI - Welcome "home" x
Thank you everyone for your advice re the parent situation. I have certainly started to realise that what matters is MY family: me,dh and dds.
Spoke to Dh and he is of the opinion that we tell them we will not be visiting anyone over Christmas, we are having Christmas day on our own (with fil of course) but that anyone who wishes to visit us/their grandkids, are more than welcome either christmas eve or boxing day. And so that is what we will do. I am aware its not going to go down well, but I think its about time we took a bit of a stand with them all.
Moneymission - hope the chat goes as well for you. We can be firm and not at all guilty about it together ;-)It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -

Feisty, sorry to hear your news, but I believe the wily ones choose their time for a reason. My only grandmother (my dad's parents died before mum & dad married) was recovering from a stroke. She was desperate to go home, but knew she would have to be diligent about her physio, which she hated. She was totally with it about everything and apparently was in cracking form the night she died, but went peacefully in her sleep about 5am. I swear she did it then because she knew we would all rush home for the funeral (generally in Ireland it is within 3 days). She died the day the riots kicked off & most of us live either in or very close to the areas that were affected in London, so all of us being home would ensure we were safe.A smile costs little but creates much0

Feisty, so sorry to hear this. At least you can take some comfort in the fact she did it 'her way'
Freespirit, I'm so impressed that you're able to turn around the gift deliveries so quickly! It's clearly a very well-oiled machine - my presents are currently living under my bed in a plastic bag. I might sort them today and do a little stock check so I don't overbuy.
Unfortunately I had a bit of bad news on Friday - my beloved rabbit Truffles had to be put down. It was incredibly sad, but apparently she wouldn't have suffered. Our other bunny Binky was very withdrawn and glum yesterday, and we decided to get him another little friend for some company, so yesterday we took him to meet an adult rabbit our breeder was retiring. Fifi is settling in well and is certainly showing Binky who is going to rule the roost from now on!
I have a couple of days off work next week, and I can't wait. I don't have any real plans, but that's exactly the sort of day off I enjoy! If anyone has any suggestions for any fun, festive activities I can get up to I'd love to hear them0 -
Pinknfluffy & freespirit - I'm hoping it will be a relatively easy conversation because he knows I have wanted to have Christmas at home for years & finally this year our kitchen & living room are ideal for it because we've had it all redone so lots of space.
Sorry to hear about your rabbit kaya. Hopefully the new one will settle in well so your other rabbit has some company.
I have been looking at some websites & searching Christmas. Some of them are great (amazon) and I've added things to my basket already, although I haven't bought anything yet because I always like to give myself time to think about it first. The good thing with amazon is it keeps your items in your basket, unlike some sites that empty your basket after a certain time. Some sites aren't so great because they have already launched their 2015 range so there's no sale items - boooooo!0 -
MoneyMission - Oooh, which sites have launched their 2015 ranges already?! I've been having a little poke around but haven't found anything myself yet!0

Thank you all for your kind words, they mean a lot to me x
Moneymission, perhaps in the spirit of compromise you could suggest alternate years of visiting and staying home?
Pink, well done hunny! I hope that they take the news better than expected.
Kaya, so sorry to hear about your bunnyI'm glad Binky has a new friend though

Yes I think I will offer alternate yearly plans for Christmas, keeps everybody happy then : )
Kaya, john Lewis & debenhams have 2015 stuff already.
I've been scouring the internet daily to try & find out when Benefit launch their advent calendar. My husband got me one last year & I loved it, so want to get one for my eldest daughter this year as she is a teenager now & loves makeup.0
