Indiepanda thankyou for making me aware of Fever, I visited the website when I had five minutes before leaving for work this morning and there's some lovely stuff on there. I might be treating myself....I've realised I too have been letting myself hide in horrible clothes or not investing in nice new ones because "I'll be thinner soon"" and enough is enough!

Also took five minutes to pop into a shop on the way to work and treated myself to a maxi skirt that I can wear a lot this summer. It's nothing special but it's new, it's not scruffy, and it looked rather nice. Money well spent rather than wasted because I know it will get a lot of use.

Perfume on! Was a bit naughty and forgot the skincare regime last night after a glass or three of wine but I'll behave later! Looking forward to going home to a nice, healthy, homecooked meal that I had portioned up and put in the freezer and have a plan tomorrow for a hyper-healthy meal almost entirely made out of vegetables I've been growing in the veg patch. Two days at work after today and then three off so some house and garden fabbing might have to commence!:T

Like many of us I am slowly inching towards a more minimalist way of thinking and living. It's a slow process but I'm getting there.

Thanks very much for this post LL, I found it really inspiring. (I've cut it short in the repost only for the sake of the thread!) This idea is new to me, I like it. It made me think that you sound like a really chic French woman! The kind of stereotype that OK maybe doesn't even exist; immaculate, stylish, capsule wardrobe, buyer of few quality things, intelligent and non-materialistic. Who doesn't want to be her?:rotfl:

I'm very guilty of this and have been looking a mess for ages as a result. Good for you for buying something that makes you feel better NOW. I think you have to bin or CS a horrible item of clothing as penance though. :rotfl: To stop you wearing them all the time. I'm going to follow your example here and buy myself something sensibly priced to make myself feel good NOW!

I put my maxi dress on again today and went for a 40 min walk. It was lovely to get some fresh air, there was a nice breeze so it wasn't too hot.

    Good afternoon everyone :)

This thread really inspires me, I'm going to go and throw out some clothes! I'm fed up of looking and feeling shabby and the house is a mess as I just have far too much stuff. I'm feeling a bit down today, weekends are hard atm and I've got nothing to do today or tomorrow so I'm feeling sorry for myself. Might as well use the time to sort a few things out. I even bought myself a colouring book :D only problem is that I can't find any colouring pencils, so will have a trip to the pound shop onMonday to see if I can find any.

I'm sorry the weekends are rubbish at the moment. :(I think you have got something to do though; you need to do some house fabbing then some Beluga fabbing. :) Then you must report back to us all.

I've seen some really lovely adult colouring books on amazon, I'm not very arty but I should give it a try. Can you go and get some colouring pencils tomorrow morning instead of waiting?

    French chic? I wish......:rotfl:

However im workimg on it, so thanks in advance for the compliment.

Actually I do like the way some European women dress, I like the way they seem to be able to,dress modestly and yet look sexy at the same time.......

I'm not sure how it works but I think its like dear old Aunty S used to say, "keep men guessing, keep em wanting more".

I think she was right, too much flesh is never alluring, it just looks tarty rather than sassy, elegant or chic.

My soon to be daighter in law and I were watching "Don't tell the bride" and I have to say I don't like to see brides Flaunting their assets in dresses that reveal too much. I think demure looks much nicer. Luckily DIL and I seem to think alike on this judging by the way she dresses and the type of wedding dress she's after.

They have gone to barcelona this week, part holiday, part work for her PHD - Unjversity of Barcelona. Whilst there she will be visiting the showroom of her favoured wedding dress designer who has her flag ship store in Barcelona. exciting.

I have been googling Mother of the groom outfits getting a feel of what's out there. I need to see what colours her mum and bridesmaids are going to,wear. Of course they are all dark Latin beauties so I think they will be wearing bright vibrant colours.

I'm not sure how im gojng to shape up with my white hair and pale creamy olive skin because they all have jet black hair and gorgeous
Deep olive skins. I'll stick out like a sore thumb on the wedding line up. I can't dye my hair black though, I would look like Morticia from the Addams family.:rotfl:

I'm half watching The Lake House, Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves I do like Sandra Bullock, she has aged well and is still very attractive, she has got a nice sense of style.

Keanu fascinates me. He seems to veer from handsome God to scruffy unkempt unhealthy looking slob and then back again. Perhaps he's a yo yo dieter who likes to relax between films and then works his butt off to get in shape for the next project.

I do lust after the house in this film........

weekends can be especially hard for singletons. everywhere you look you seem to,see lived up couples and families out and about.

    I don't know the answer.

I tend to avoid visiting the kind of places where couples go, so I'm ight potter round the shops or markets, maybe a gallery or the cinema. I avoid places like parks, NT properties etc.

I also, like to have something to do, gardning, housefabbing etc and then perhaps a nice DVD or maybe something on Netflix or something that I e recorded in the week

I love those adult colouring books.

Glad to have introduced someone else to them - not that I have any connection to the company, I just love their clothes - really feminine - and they do very good sales, hardly bought anything full price in there.

I don't know quite what your personal situation is or where you live, but have you thought about joining a social club or finding friends with common interests via a meetup group?

I joined a social club that has branches in a number of cities (it's called Spice) when I moved to London and it kept me busy at weekends and helped me make friends. I do less with them now as have made friends through other routes as well as found a boyfriend through internet dating, but I still do hiking weekends away and holidays with them and the odd theatre trip.

I've recently started looking for some local walking groups for day walks and found quite a few meetup groups round here and they seem to do walks both days most weekends as well as trips away. Appreciate hiking might not be your thing - but there are meetup groups for all sorts of interests and my social club does a huge range of events. i guess if you live somewhere remote this might not be an option though.

On the comedy front, I was slightly bemused after signing up for meetup to get an email suggesting a different group that I might be interested in - called cougars and toy boys. Don't think my boyfriend would be overly happy if I joined!!! No idea how they came up with that suggestion based on my list of interests either (hiking, yoga, running, theatre, cinema etc) .... I will admit my boyfriend is younger than me, but I don't think 6 years makes me a cougar. Though it is twenty years since I last dated an older man so maybe they have a bit of a point...
