What rotten luck about your sweater.....I must confess I'm a bit anal About washing special things and i don't trust washing machines now. I once ruined a favourite sweater, so now I wash my Best ones by hand.
I bought some crockery from ikea. :rotfl: plain white, very reasonable at 80p per item. They look more expensive than that. I'm going to save the old plates as saucers for planters rather than just chucking them out. I also bought some "kallax" shelving to go in a couple of nooks and crannies in my room and the study.
Today I was naughty, popped into DS2s garden centere and got tempted by two sun loungers .....they were on offer and of course DS gets discount. Even so I must tighten the belt now and rein in my spending a bit.......
Your walk through Hyde Park sounds lovely, it was such a gorgeous morning.
DS1s girl has just discovered some of our city's parks and she sent me a picture of one this morning when she went for a run at 6.00'am. It's a lovely photo, all the trees in leaf now in all shades of bright spring greens.
Both yesterday and today ive had occasion to drive out into the countryside and it looks lovely now that all the trees are out and some are in full blossom.
My baby magnolia tree is in flower too, it's one of the purple ones rather than the usual creamy pink. It only has 4 blooms this year but it's a start.......0 -
Evening everyone
I've had a lovely week that has given me a boost in confidence. Earlier this week someone at work asked me if I'd lost weight. I was really chuffed as I have been trying to lose weight for a while. It has given me a real boost to carry on. Then yesterday I was talking to one of my colleagues and we got onto age. Now I think I look my age, 44, but she was really shocked and said she thought I was in my mid 30's. She is a very genuine person so I don't think it was put on. Im definately not leaving this thread if it has that effect in one week.
One area I need to work on is my wardrobe. Everything is very shabby which is ridiculous as I have been sewing since I was 4 years old. So some upcycling and visits to the charity shop are needed. I'm still paying off debt so can't afford new stuff but have the skills to sort something from nothing.
Thank you all, I'm feeling very positive.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

ll I think the plates you have are the ones I'm planning to get!
parsnip well done on the weight loss. I would love to be able to sew. Maybe you should tailor some of your clothes so they fit perfectly, it will make you look so well put together and stylish.
I'm about to have a quick power fab soon as OH is at work and I've just got the children to sleep. I'll body brush (but shower tomorrow), re-paint my toes and face mask.0 -
Fab Friday ladies.....Enjoy.:D0

I decided to have a bit of a pampering session tonight. So I'm currently scrubbed, exfoliated, de-Fuzzed and moisturised. I'm very much enjoying looking after myself at the moment.
I have been looking at my clothes chanie. I have a pair of navy jeans I got from the charity shop recently which I wore today. The legs are a bit wide at the bottom and floppy so I think I'm going to have to take them in over the weekend. I also need to get some summer shoes as I'm still wearing my winter boots. I can't have anything completely flat so need to look for something suitable. I struggle with shoe shopping though. Too many years in Doc Martins when I was younger ending up with wide, foot shaped feet which don't suit pretty shoes.;)
Off for an earlyish night now.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Hi ladies
I hope you're all ok.
I don't have much time for fabbing at the moment (which is a shame because we go on holiday in just over 4 weeks!) but I'm too busy packing for the move on Friday. Hoping to get it all (bar a few essentials/clothes for the week) packed this weekend.
I am taking a break later to go and get my hair cut because the ends are crinkly. No split ends which is what I'd usually get past a certain length, but it just feels like it has been fried.I have a £10 off voucher (the cut is normally £52) because I haven't been since January.
I also bought a new moisturiser - I use a light Simple one, with SPF 15 in it, but my face was still really dry. I've bought a rich one and it's definitely helping after two days, but I have to put the light one over the top for the SPF. :rotfl: I looked at the day and night creams (the day cream has SPF in it) but I'm not sure what they are in practise.0 -

Just wanted to add a quick message about SPF in moisturisers. I had treatment for solar keratosis (sun damage) and the dermatologist asked me what I use. 30 for sun cream and usually would put that on my face for every day in summer but said 15 in my moisturiser and he advised higher factor in daily moisturiser. Hope this helps with fabbing!0 -
Used epilator on my legs for the first time this year. Ouch. But I noticed that there are "bald" patches that didn't need going over so it looks like using it regularly last year has had a positive effect.
Also remembering to use facial serum every day as well as moisturiser (I have loads of lotions and potions - am also posting on the Not Buying Unnecessary Toiletries thread!) Starting to notice a differenceLooking ahead0 -

I've not posted on there but I am with you in spirit! I've been using up lots of sample size things I've got lately and also get a real mse:money: buzz when I manage to finish any pack. I'd love to get to a point where I only use products that I've chosen and bought for myself but as (ungrateful though it sounds:o) I always end up with things I've been given as gifts.
I'm still working on pampering my nails as I'm having a break from polish. I have a question: I've been using some cuticle oil that I got in a manicure gift pack. When it's used up do I have to buy dedicated cuticle oil? Are any other (cheaper?) oils suitable for purpose?
Still keeping up with fabbing although not feeling it today as I've not washed my hair but will all be sorted in the morning.:)
Called into Home Bargains on Friday. It's a bit out of town so don't go there very often but had an errand in the area. I got a pot of bronzing pearls for 99p so got to be worth a try and a muslin face cloth for similar price.
Love to all.:A0 -
maman and susan about a year ago, I had a clear out and got rid of all toiletries that had gone off (what a waste to try and save them for best). I then put the rest in a box so they are all together and I work through the stash. I managed to get it down to a couple of bottles, but then christmas and got loads more!!!
The products last me ages, as I'm the only one who uses them - Mr c has sensitive skin and some are too grown up for the children. I do agree that I prefer to choose my own products, but I have discovered products I wouldn't normally try, plus I'm saving money, by using them up, so there are some positives.
maman I bought some cuticle oil from superdrug for £3-4. It comes in a tube with a paint brush. It may not be very MSE, but it's handy to have in my make-up bag, as I normally do it during my work commute. You've just reminded me that I need to buy another one.0
