In other words yes, it needs power from the mains.0 -
So,
Let me get this right its branded one name but its actualy a seagate drive??Tell it as it should be....0 -
Ummm... when i built my own pc 3 years back I stuck 2 IBM 180gb drives in it, at the time they were pretty much the biggest you could get. I had no problems with my motherboard or xp letting me format them to their full capacity.
250gb for 100quid seems to be the going rate at the moment though. I bought a 250gb western digital drive from dabs for a customer a few months back for about 90quid, so add a few quid for the external casing and its about the same price.0 -
Where there is a similar priced firewire version on sale?...I get the impression that because I only have usb1 on my machine it will run tooooooo slow for meThe Early bird may catch the worm ...but its the second mouse that gets all the cheese!0

I have a Sony Laptop 3/12 years old..It has USB1 & one firewire connection..
Will this drive run really slow because of my usb1 connections or should I be going for a drive with a built in firewire connection ..and if so are they available??
You should go for firewire - they cost a little more though - but USB1 is not fast enough for this size of drive
USB1=1Mb/s
250,000Mb
=250,000 seconds = 70 Hours!0 -
Or here http://www.dabs.com/uk/channels/components/harddiskdrives/externalharddiskdrives/productView.htm?quicklinx=2SDN
slightly cheaper at - £119.55 (ex delivery) without the savastore worries.
I'm tempted to go for the USB 2.0 myself cos I can - £105.16....but the firewire would be a fine option for not much more.
Aldi's Gericom v's Lacie's Porsche Design Agency designed??...I know which I'd go formake your own time, you're welcome in mine0 -

C'mon lipidicman...that LaCie looks damn fine!
Those cool clean lines in a brushed aluminium finish...You might as well say that you'd rather have a Lada instead of a Ferrari, heh heh!
I guess the Gericom does have a 6 in 1 card reader and 2 USB ports but still........make your own time, you're welcome in mine0
