So they came back to me with the 5th January!!! They are taking the p***

I've emailed their ceo for what it's worth. So I'm now left with no broadband.
Is there anything I can buy in the mean time that will keep me going with home broadband until I can sort this mess out?

Since you are with BT, you get to use their BT Wi-fi service.... provided someone near by is also with BT and signal is strong enough.

Other than that, a PAYG mobile broadband dongle.

What was BT's reason for the delay?

They just said that there was a query raised! I sent an email to their CEO today and I had a response from their Executive Level response team informing me that I should have it done tomorrow lol
  • Don't hold your breath. I got to Executive Level on 18th October. I'm still waiting. I'm wondering if there's something above Executive ... will the Board Level mean I get it this century? Will God level ensure I have working infinity in 2015?
  • The issue though is that BT subcontract to Openreach. If my builder chooses to subcontract to a brickie who doesn't turn up and so the job gets delayed, it's be builder's fault and he/she should compensate me (and perhaps recover the compensation from the brickie). There is no justification in saying that you can't be compensated because of who your contractor uses as a subcontractor. I wonder if anyone has tried the small claims court.

I don't doubt that somewhere in the T&C you agree to when taking out the contract there will be some mention of your compensation if they do their all too frequent trick and don't bother to show up.

It's the same with all big companies - they have clever legal departments and will have all angles covered. Anybody trying to get any legal redress will just be throwing their money way.

Lol- it got connected this morning as promised. They also gave me a £46 credit as a goodwill gesture. Very happy now with the £100 sainsburys voucher & £165 cash back still to come.

Meanwhile there is somebody else bewailing a no-show and wondering if they'll get broadband for Christmas....

Already said earlier if you in the limited area, you can get Relish 4G home broadband for a month rolling contract for £20 (plus £50 for the router).
