I'm changing from sky to BT infinity at the moment. BT gave me an activation date of yesterday. Surprise surprise, today arrives and it's still not activated.

I phoned them this morning and they said the earliest it could be done was Monday and that's not guaranteed! So I'm stuck all weekend with no broadband as my old one has been cut off.

After I shouted at them they suggested I get a dongle and they would refund me. Thing is I don't know what I'm looking for in a dongle. Any help? I'm looking for something that could do me all weekend that I can plug into a router and use multiple items at one time i.e Netflix and Xbox live.

    Thanks all

I saw that thread but I'm looking for something that I can use numerous appliances at once. Do any of these do that? Thanks

I hope you got that in writing.

I've never heard of them offering anything better than a £10 missed appointment and as there was presumably no appointment there wouldn't even be that.

If you are luckly to be in their very limited coverage, you could go with Relish 4G home broadband for a month (you would need to pay £50 for the device. But if what BT said is true, they should cover that).

As its BT Open Reach i would bet that they offer nil compensation and will deny any offer .

Welcome to the BT OR hutch of unhappy bunny's .
  • If you raise a formal complaint they will usually offer a £10 or £20 as "provision delay credit". Better than nothing.

Another member on this forum posted that he got the 3g dongle charge refunded by BT.

BT and Openreach are different companies, but you deal with BT directly, who in turn deal with Openreach.

More like an extended warren. It's high time the regulator did something to sort out the monster they created with Openreach. Pretty much not fit for purpose IMO.
