I too have a complaint open with Barclaycard for the same issue, paid off my credit card in full in early September, applied for mortgage in november and had issues due to "undisclosed credit" turns out that even though it was paid in september the £1800 was still showing on my report on Nov 20th,, Barclaycard said they would do a "rapid update" on the 21st, got all 3 credit reports on 5th Dec to find the balance showing still the same.

Is this not a clear breach of DPA.

Anyway now gotta wait 40 working days for them to respond to the complaint

I think DPA has nothing to do with this.

I must admit they are correct in the fact that they are not obligated to share information however its fraustrating how they suddenly just stop when back in October I cleared my balance.

I messaged them via Facebook as you get contact from someone in the UK call you. I daren't call up and query it over the telephone with someone the other side of the world.

DPA from the perspecitve of processing invalid / inaccurate information, in my case Barclaycard have updated the CRA's each month but not with the correct Zero balance but rather £1800. Principle 4 (accurate and up to date) could be argued to apply, as they are "sharing" inaccurate data.

think the other issue with being obligated to share data is that they clearly started to share it, don't think they can just stop without the account being removed, or the data being held would be invalid

Yeah but the information would have been correct at the time they last shared it.

thats the issue, it was not, in my case i paid £1800 to clear the balance in Sept, then in each of Oct,Nov,Dec they updated the CRA's with the information that the balance was £1800, clearly inaccurate information.

Mines complety stopped it was last reported in October and remained the same ever since. It's interesting how your experience differs.

Mine has done similar - cleared the balance on the 13th Nov, last updated with CRA's on 16th Dec but still shows the paid off balance.

I was thinking that as my statement date is around the 12/13th of the month it was Barclaycard reporting the previous statement amount - not convinced that makes sense but hoping it will be correct in a week or so after the next update to save having to chase them... pretty much a guaranteed £50 goodwill payment if I have to though as a silver lining :rotfl:
  • Sorry for the thread revival here but I'm currently in the same boat.

Barclaycard paid in full on the 8th Jan but still shows a balance of £6500 on my Experian credit file.

I'm currently in the middle of a mortgage application and this is causing me no end of issues as they cannot get the "system" to disregard the £6500 even though I can prove it was repaid.

How did you all get on in the end?
