I was brought up that way too and still do it, even if it's just a pennyI was told it's so that your purse will never be empty
Here's another one I've found:
“Don't put your purse on the floor or you'll stay broke.” This is an old superstition, which says that we shouldn't keep our handbags on the floor if we want to have money coming in. With your handbag, the problem is that you are both physically and symbolically putting your money on the dirty floor down by your feet, which can be interpret as you are disrespecting your wealth. If you want to keep your money, you have to respect it. A symbolic way of respecting it by putting it in a nice place like on the table, a chair or your lap.MFiT-T7 #17 (Jan 2025) £193k (Apr) £177k (July) £

I banked my £642 today and changed some into Euros for my holiday so that takes me back to £0 ready to start again. Can't believe how much I managed to save. Hopefully next year will be just as good
