Do you think people considered buying property risky in the run up to `08?

I don't think most people understand the risks very well at all.

Buying for short term gain is always a risk.
Buying for a long term home has some risks - but mostly related to personal circumstances (divorce, relocation, redundancy, sickness) and short term volatility is not a big risk.

I do agree that sentiment is key, however taking is from one single post is a nonsense.
