Yes, I wash all of the cans, bottles, jars and plastic containers. It doesn't take more than a few moments and it stops the recycling bins getting really unpleasant, especially in the summer.0

Nope, we have a wheelie bin for all mixed recycling so I'm not concerned about rats etc. don't often wash up as we have a dishwasher and I'm not washing a bowl of rubbish when we are on a water metre.
To stop the bins getting icky, I did use wheelie bin liners for a bit but found these either ripped, or fell out on occasion and the cost of them really didn't outweigh just paying for a one of wheelie bin clean once a year.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Yes rinse out bottles whatever they have had in them. Cans and other plastics go in the dishwasher before disposal0

No I don't wash anything, all in the wheelie bin and emptied every other week. All the jars and bottles have any lids replaced this stops it getting smelly. Water is precious and even more so when on a meter.Thoughts:

If wheelie bin gets a bit "minging", I have a jet wash to clean it out, then empty it into the drain in the street.0

nope, never wash the recycling, its bad enough being forced to sort the good (sellable) recyclables from the bad (uneconomic to process) as unpaid council labour. No way am I going to use valuable water for their convenience....At times any combination of my spelling, grammar or punctuation may be incorrect. Please do not pick me up for this as, after all, it is only an internet forum.0

Drinks bottles and cans don't get washed. Food jars and cans get a rinse at the end of washing up, never with clean water - we're on a meter.0

Jars, bottles, and tins, we do as we are asked by our local authority and it isn't much extra trouble.
However our local authority also asks us to wash our tinfoil, which we do not because we think it is ridiculous to wash little pieces of foil before throwing them out!0
