Where to buy in outer London with £200k budget?

Even Hornchurch and Elm Park are on the list. Geographically they're right next to Dagenham and Barking. Are those up and coming too?0

We bought in Slough in July. 200K might not get a house now but a decent flat with money left over is definitely achievable.
I work in Harrow so drive in to work and has really reduced my commuting costs as used to commute from Basingstoke. My GF works in London some days and uses the train and we are about 30 mins walk from Slough station. We can also walk/ get a bus easily into Windsor and that route to London is useful if the Paddington line is having problems such as last weekend.
Shopping in Slough is not great but has most things we need for a short trip into town. If we want a nicer shopping experience or a leisurely afternoon out with lunch or coffee then we go to Windsor which takes no more effort than going into Slough.
As regards safety there are a few areas I wouldn't walk through but when walking home late from the station I am happy walking through town and stick to the main roads and I feel comfortable as does my GF.0 -

I don't think it says they're up and coming. It says they are places that people from London are moving out to.
The places people move out to will depend on their personal circumstances i.e. friends & family and job location, their lifestyle preferences and of course their budget.
I'd personally rather move to leafy Harpenden or Tonbridge over somewhere near Dagenham (which I don't know and express no opinion of) but that's for my own circumstances and because thankfully my budget allows. Other people have different circumstances.0 -
In the last few weeks prices in Dagenham have gone up by 12%.
How's it going OP? Prices seem to be rocketing!
I can't locate the debate house prices board for some reason.0 -

A fair summary of the value for money to be had with Slough, validating my post #21

Noticed a vote for Tonbridge earlier. Funnily enough I looked at that place when prospecting for a BTL couple of years ago. At that time it was inexpensive and not too bad, just avoid the entire centre which is prone to serious flooding.0 -

We will hopefully start soon visiting the 3 shortlisted areas in the south: Redhill, Sutton & South Croydon. Each of them has its pros & cons so it's really about the priorities and the 'feel' for the place.
Other options are Middlesex and Hertfordshire but need to do more research.0 -
All the best; it's so difficult buying now.0

OP: how are you getting on with your search?0
