It used to be old advice to 'ignore', but PoFA 2012 gave the possibility of the keeper being liable, however, along with it came an independent appeals process through which, initially, POPLA was set up, and we found that almost every ticket could be won on appeal at POPLA. So charges could be killed off completely, and the POPLA decision was binding on the PPC, but not on the motorist.

However the IPC later became an ATA (BPA 'rival') and instituted their own independent appeals service - the IAS - which is seemingly far less impartial than POPLA and more difficult to deal with. But we'll help you handle that in due course.

Meantime while awaiting the NtK, keep reading the NEWBIES sticky and also read a good number of recent ** UKCPS threads on here and on Pepipoo (another private parking charges help forum).

** since joining the IPC on 18/11/2014
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I advise you to take photographs of the signage urgently, as they may still be BPA signs. If they are, they may give you a slight chance if making an appeal to the IAS.

went down this eve and took some pics. from where my car was parked, the signs are not readily visible.

All their signs have both IPS and BPA approved logos.

    thanks again

Still won't be worth an IAS appeal, only the first appeal to UKCPS when you get the first letter. If they don't cancel then you will end up ignoring them in the end like everyone else does with an IPC ticket. There really is NO independent appeal offered:

So be ready to try one appeal then sit tight, only then taking real court papers or a Letter before Claim notice, seriously.

You won't win at IAS, so don't bother (see the PP blog link as to why). But do the first appeal. This is covered in every IPC thread & is no big deal to go into ignore mode after one challenge and keeps you more under the radar than losing at IAS.

thanks again. I had a look at the parking prankster link. I imagine you have to be somewhat guarded with what you write here, but, did you include the link for my consideration or as a warning. looks to me like a potentially cost effective way out for me. plus U/K cps don't get paid, and I like the idea of supporting independent enterprise.

What looks like a cost effective way out, is there something in the PP blog about the IAS which talks about independent enterprise or have you been reading the Parking Cowboys site or something? There are firms that can help with defences and yep it's no secret that I am involved with one such firm. But winning at IAS is still unlikely so it would still come down to ignoring UKCPS in 2015 unless they issued a court claim.

I was simply asking (given you'd included the parking prankster link in a recent reply) if parking prankster are a possible option for me - and for a very reasonable cost in my mind. What do you think?

I wasn't aware of your business connections, and the only stuff I've been reading, is that recommended by yourself and others trying to help me. My apologies for any confusion.

ok, ive received the NTK. Just brushing up more recent posting to see that current thinking is to appeal before ntk on a nothing to lose basis. Makes sense.

    Anyway,
I've copied the template appeal to send to UKCPS, which has a space for the "PCN" number. Am I right in thinking this number is the windscreen ticket issue number, and is the same number that appears on ntk as "charge reference number"?

If its of any help to others, I'd gone the £16 parking ticket appeals route, to find this morning they are no longer trading. They did suggest ( http://www.parkingticketappeals.org.uk/ ) I claim back monies paid vie Paypal - which was easily done on the phone via an 0800 number. fair play to pta.
